Proven intercoolers that work (looking to upgrade)

Looking for choices on a new intercooler, My intercooler is a dual pass unit. It cools great but has a major pressure drop in it, 13psi to be exact.

I will install pressure taps in the charge pipes to confirm on the dyno. Last week on the dyno my ebc display said it was 30psi and the dyno was tapped into the intake and said 17psi.

A good friend of mine has a threadstone cooler for me to try out, Its a big cooler and might not fit so I may need some proof on a good intercooler before I buy one.

My cooler drops 40 Deg temp from in to out, I know this will help with detonation but where do I draw the line from cools lots but has a pressure drop or barley a pressure drop but higher temps?

    Thanks Brian

flow is effected by a few things but the big one is square inches of boost area. The area of the IC that sees boost. When you buy a dual pass you cut the IC flow in half. Then your also causing a drag by making it twice as long. Still wondering how they sell those things...

Wouldnt you have to set those pretty low? 944 are a 4" core.. dont see how that could fit where the existing cooler goes. Im curious for install info on that one..

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

What about some stock TII cores welded up, I am either going to go that route-3 cores welded up or an ATA.

They are a great choice IMO. Although I think there are other cores out there which would better maximize the room in the front of a 4 door L body.

I really liked the large NPR intercooler when I had it in my Omni GLH. I think Cliff Ramsdell was making over 400 whp with one in his 2.5L TIII wagon.

They are great coolers for sure. 400HP has been done in multiple cars with one if I'm not mistaken.

A front mounted A/C condenser flowing glycol, via an electric pump (2001-2003 Durango rear heat system pump works well), to a water cooled intercooler provides superior heat rejection.
When coupled with a good flowing/reasonably sized intercooler core the result will be improved throttle response, due to smaller volume, with excellent thermal rejection when compared to air-to-air.

    Thanks

I run the Spearco top to bottom flow
I've never seen anyone post results from it, (pressure or temp drop)

This was Spearco core with cast end tanks in 4 dr l-body. Guy used to sell these on ebay. No longer a seller. You could specify placement and size of inlet/outlet. This was about triple size of stock TII core. Worked great! Few guys are running Mishimoto coolers in their l-body. Same type of pipe install.
