Carb to Turbo L body Fuel Tank

Ok so I have a carb'd horizon that I'm installing a turbo engine into and plan on running an in-tank 255 pump. i just want to make sure I'm straight on the fuel tank. I understand i need a turbo or TBI gas tank. I believe they are the same according to my research...is this correct?

Also, what about the pickup assembly? i dont think the new tanks come with this piece and i assume i probably cannot use the factory carb'd one.....if i need one where can i buy one? TBI omni's and horizons are very very scarce in the junk yards around here so i doubt i will find one and will need to buy a new one.

The TBI tank and pickup is what you want. The carb pickup will require a lot of modification given that the carb setup doesn't have an intake fuel pump (uses a mechanical one on the block).

I think you can still get the new pickup and tank from rockauto. I would think that you can also find an omni in a phoenix junkyard if you poke around a little.

i'm finding stock replacement pickup units for like $200 and universal ones for like $35 (no idea if those will work tho).

i may just and a sump w/ an fittings to the carb tank and run my inline pump...

Pickup is the same. Pump is obviously different. Swap out to a turbo pump and good to go. Iirc L body is L body only when it comes to the pickup.

So you're saying that the piece the pump goes into is the same for all the cars, or that the L body one is different from the rest?

I'm pretty sure that the L body is its own thing. I remember pulling a turbo van unit out and it looking totally different than mine. The pump itself was just about the same.

Dang. Looks like I'll be trying to modify something then because I'm not going to pay for a whole new pump when I just need the hanger assy.

went to the junk yard today and found 2 TBI omnis! i was so excited until i noticed both gas tanks were missing. The yard pulls them out of every car and crushes them
