    Muffler decision time

I have a Todd Nelson built CB 2.2 with his estimate of 300-400hp in my GLH. Running 3" mandrel past test tube into 2.5" mandrel and stock muffler, it's too loud. Want to go 3" mandrel all the way with mild throaty muffler in back. Want to drive the car daily in and out of town and be able to talk to passengers/wife. What muffler would do the job? Thanks, Steve

That Warlock muffler that Gus has on Slug is surprisingly docile. And what is nice you can remove the plug at the track and have a straight through open exhaust when racing.

What I don't like about it is they don't have an all SS model.

I like the Dynomax UltraFlo's I have on 2 other cars, but they are louder.

The Magnaflow 3" that TU and FWDP sells is pretty quiet inside the car and flows like no other. It's also cheap. I have one on my New yorker and can have a conversation with the windows down just fine.

Its loud with a stock muffer?????????

I've driven L body's with the muffler Jay mention's and Ultraflo's and they are very quiet but they also have a cat, that really helps knock down the noise or instead of a cat, put a glasspack there.

    Re: Muffler decision time

    That's true too.
BTW, Slug does have a Dynomax Race Magnum in place of the cat, so that does knock down a bit of noise.

On my GLHS I had a magnaflow I got at jegs that was 5x8x18. Has an offset in out. It's quiet at idle and cruising. Also had a magnaflow high flow cat.

I run the magneflow 3 inch high flow also. Its got a very nice tone and not loud in the car at all. The only thing i hate about it is all the welds rusted out within a year

    Re: Muffler decision time

I have two straight thru mufflers in my car, no problem with loudness here.

I had one on Matchbox until the guts gave out after hundreds of thousands of miles and MANY years. The guts gave out and it was as loud plugged as unplugged. On my SRT4 (12.17 at 119 mph) Pit Bull I run a 3" in/out Spiral flow...the sound is nice and deep!

3" catalyst, 3" in/out with 4" case resonator. If you need more muffling you can add a glass pack.
