    Line pressure RMVB?

I've had a problem with the 2 to 3 shift flairing up to 1,000 rpms during the shift. I've adjusted the kickdown band a few different settings but it didn't make any difference.
I rigged up a spare oil pressure gauge to check line pressure. I was told to check it in high gear at the kickdown release port. And it should be 105 pounds and around 2,000 rpms in third gear.
I had 80 pounds to begin with. I backed the adjuster out 1 turn and got it up to 90 pounds. I backed it off another turn and it only went up to 94 pounds. I am a little worried about backing it out of the threads.

    Am I doing this right?
    Should this help my problem?

    Thanks in advance.

Flare is 99% the front clutch is worn. Turn up the line pressure.

I dropped the pan to make sure my clutches weren't in the pan. Looked fine.
I also was able to turn out the adjuster a bit more. I now have 100 pounds at 2,000 rpms in third gear.
Hope this solves the 2 to 3 problem.

Wait, you are turning the line pressure adjustment screw out? It's been a while, but I could swear you have to turn it in to raise the line pressure?

No I'm sure you turn it counterclockwise to raise it. Clockwise to lower it.

Ran it though the gears on the jack stands yesterday. Partial throttle and applying brakes. It went through all 3 gears. If it dosen't rain I'll know if I fixed the problem in Atlanta this weekend.

Sure enough! It is CCW to raise it! Man, I completely bombed on that one! I apologize! *facepalm*

Raising it from 80 to 105 did the trick. No flare on the 2 to 3 shift.
