My bad, the way you typed it made it sound like you had just come to that realization. Pressure tap is Huge for good info on efficiency, wish everyone above 400WHP was running one. Then we could start to get a decent understanding of what Real changes are taking place between different set-ups, turbo size, exhaust size ect.

I'll be putting a pressure gauge in this time.

I have narrowed it down to 2 setups, HX35 with the 351 compressor wheel, TS header, or 351 with the HX turbine, and TS header. Probably go with the HX though, that way I can sell the 351.

    Is your HX35 a 7 or 8 blade compressor?

That turbine housing would probably make your van more resistant to hydroplaning by putting 400 extra lbs over the front wheels.

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

Why? Pretty well the same setup for all Holsets, including the Hy/Hx35's.

No doubt, still not as heavy as the VGT turbo though. If I did put this on the van, I wouldn't using that housing, way too big, 16 cm, not to mention bulky. If I wanted to, could machine a Garrett housing to fit,

BAE Turbo Systems sells a 62mm compressor wheels for the 40 and 351 for $90. I wonder if they are worth it.

I believe those are stock replacements. There's also the batmowheel which sounds like expensive snake oil

    Re: HX40 with a billet wheel-alternative choice?

They might be stock replacements, I know you need to get the housing machined to match the new inducer.

BW Compares the Batmowheel vs Cast wheel:

"BW got a little tired of the Batmowheel claims and has now matched up their cast 80mm S400 wheel against the Double Batmowheel 80mm

    Batmo - .86Kg/s = 114lbs/min
    Borg 80- .92Kg/s = 122lbs/min."

So yea, pretty much snake oil like you said

It is, the link on the first page to the DSM site proves it, the guy has run 9.20 on a stock HX40, previously had the Batmowheel on and didn't go as fast.

Well, simply because the flow runs directly into a wall then turns 90* into the exiting turbine exhaust flow. Yes, that is turbulent, but still!! I know, I'm probably splitting hairs and it works just fine. It's just the visual on it makes me go "YUCK!".

Your not splitting hairs and I agree with you 100%. If the HE351 didn't have the turbine/wastegate outlet that it has, I would prob be running an external gate.

The Talon guys seem to max around with a perfect setup around 600 whp, no ones maxed out the HX40 yet.
