an aem fic with stock sbec with modified rpm limit could be pretty sweet, plus you could use the "vtec" output as a way of triggering the nos. just sayin, then you will have the stock tune as a base tune to get moving.

bear in mind the aem fic wont drive low impedance injectors, you'd need to convert to a 1992 plus sequential setup with high impedance injectors.

Keep in mind that the cams in this car are supposed to be on the larger side of what can be done without swapping parts. They aren't as big as Brent's Junkyard, but they are big compared to stock. IIRC it was said that because of low vacuum at idle speeds that the OEM computer might get a crap signal from the MAP sensor.

I'm not saying it won't run, it just won't run as well as it could.

I suppose running IS better than not running, so either way it would still be a step forward.

Well I got fed up with trying to make it run on the Haltech, so I removed it and all it's associated wiring, along with the MSD box and other extraneous wiring. I'm gonna try and find a 90-91 engine harness, my '93 harness has a different plug for the sensor portion. Also gonna have to rewire the distributor, coolant sensor and air temp sensor plugs, as they cut them off the original harness to use on the Haltech harness. Unless someone happens to have a mint '90-91 V6 Daytona engine bay harness laying around...

I "might" know someone that has one. I will call him on my lunch and find out what year it is. But I believe it is a 92 though.

AEM FIC can tune for big cams.

Man, this makes me feel bad. I'm sorry about this...I am just as anxious as you to hear it fire up!

I do think that a used MS2 done up for the 3.0 (there are instuctions on the site to do it, maybe Brent can give more exact insight on how to use it) would be a good and cheap way to go. That was what I was going to do if I kept it. (I think I said that, so sorry for repeating myself)

Hah, i think anyone who knew about this car would know there was going to be a possibility of running into issues with the haltech. After all, ITS A HALTECH.

Yeah, but still....I was told it ran just before the truck came to pick it up from Rick when I bought it. I truly thought it would pop right off with fuel and a battery.

Well, there was a 90 3.0 Daytona in the yard here...I wonder if it is still there...hmmmm

Oh, and don't forget that LeBaron harnesses and computers will work as well.

I've been through all that "It ran when it was parked" kinda stuff before, that's why I always go through everything when I get a new project

I have a '90 Lebaron computer. Lebaron engine harness will work, but the main underhood harness is slightly different due to the different lighting setup. Will still work with some wiring changes.

Sweet. I think the stock-style electronics with a FIC piggyback like what Shayne is doing, is the second best thing to megasquirt until you get into the 1k+ range, and really substantially higher..

The only stuff the FIC cant do (advance timing, raise rev limiter), we can already do with stock electronics (or just cranking the distributor in the case of adding timing).

I know you'll have to splice in some wiring for the second headlamp motor. As for the headlights, see if there is a plug burried in the harness up front. My '88 had it (I took them out to eliminate unneeded stuff) and it looked like Chryco made it so you could basically plug-n-play different headlight subharnesses into it.

Oh, for '90 there wasn't the PDC under the hood, so there may be bulkhead plug differences, too. All of the main stuff *should* be there, though.

Re: Project LookOwt: Saving a piece of 3.0 history

Went to the local pull-a-part that has a '90 Lebaron, but the entire front suspension/drivetrain is already gone along with the engine sub harnesses. And they cut the plugs I needed Computer was still there, so I grabbed it just because, so I now have a good collection of 3.0 computers lol. I have an '88 ATX SMEC, 2 '90 ATX SBEC 1's, a '93 MTX SBEC 2, and a '95 Caravan ATX SBEC 2.

I am gonna try and hit another scrap yard/pull-a-part next week for the harness part I need.

Decided to search through my harness pile, and whadda ya know, I had the exact harness I needed Now all I need to do is re-wire the distributor, coolant sensor, and air temp sensor plugs back in and I should be able to start it. Theoretically anyway...
