Project LookOwt: Saving a piece of 3.0 history

So most of us 3.0 guys know of Rick Lozier's 12-sec Daytona. Most also know that Reaper1 bought it back in '06 with intentions of fixing it's issues and continuing the build. Fast forward to the present, after much debate he has decided that he does not have the time to do so properly, and offered me the chance to buy it at a good deal (most likely at a loss to himself), which I did asap. The opportunity came at a good time both literally and financially. I was able to come up with the money in time to be able to pick the car up during our family vacation this week, a vacation that would be spent 30 mins from where the car was stored.

So I will be taking over the task of reviving this car and continuing it's tuning. Since it is such a nostalgic piece to the 3.0 Chrysler world (the car is referenced in many places, such as Allpar), I will be keeping it as a nitrous car, and will keep it looking much the same a it is/was, while adding my own touch to it and updating some of the equipment.

I would like to thank Chris (Reaper1) for keeping track of all the records/receipts that Rick had for it, and for being very easy to deal with, especially considering the deal he gave me

So, here are some pics of the beginning of my chapter in the saga of this car. BTW it has just over 61k original miles on it, and is completely straight and rust free. Work on it will start in a week or so, after vacation is over and I haul it back home

You are very welcome! Once again, I'm glad it went to a good home!

Now that you were able to get under it, were the stock fuel lines on it? I seriously don't remember!!

I actually didn't really look lol, I know I saw both the feed and return under the hood still so I assume they are complete. I'll look at it closer later on (I have it currently parked at a friend's house in Jacksonville as I can't park it here at my in-law's where I'm staying for the week).

Very Cool! There aren't nearly enough nitrous powered 3.0's out there.

Keep in mind that the car has been painted at least twice that *I* know of (3 if you include the factory paint, which was black, and in '91 I don't think that body colored ground effects was an option on a low optioned ES car). The first iteration is the one with the white stripe on it. This is the 2nd...all black. I don't know if the stripe was paint or a decal. I do know that it has had some different decal graphics on it over time. My favorite was one that was in the NACA duct that read "Kills Bugs FAST!" in red lettering. None of that is currently on the car or was on the car when I got it. Rick told me he was trying to make it more "stealth" than it used to be.

Another bit of interesting trivia is that Rick used to go by the handle of "LOOKOWT8". He mentioned that part of the reason for the "LOOKOWT" name was if you reverse it is reads "TWOKOOL". This was done on purpose according to him.

Also, this car used to be a stereo competition car (most remember the huge stereo that was in the pictures from back in the day). The whole reason he started upgrading the performance of the car was because he got beat by a Supra and was pissed off about it!

My friend Mike (who was storing the car for me in Jacksonville and is also a forum member) recalled a time when he actually encountered the car while Rick was stationed in Jacksonville (Rick was Navy). Mike got outrun by it in his '84 Laser XE Turbo (that I eventually owned for a time).

The stripe was a decal I believe, when I looked at it the other week before buying it I showed Mike the slight difference in the paint where the stripe used to be.

It was kinda sad to see that car go. I still remember seeing that car in my rearview mirror getting on to I-95. Looking at on the trailer made me want another Daytona. Good Luck on your new project.

Yeah that deleted comment almost got me in trouble with my wife lol (she didn't realize you were talking about the car O_O). But yeah, we were kinda keeping it under wraps until the deal was sealed and done. I haven't told but a few people locally about it either, kinda building up the suspense over it lol. The local car group knows I'm pretty skilled with these cars and think the Lebaron is fast, so I'm interested in seeing what's said when I suddenly show up in this

It's a pic of the ant nest that was under the battery lol. It's not currently much to look at under the hood, but I will take some pics tonight with the good camera. Those are just cell phone pics.
