He's still going to be working on the codebases. Possibly the EATX controller also. I think he's mainly just getting out of the hardware side of things, so he can put more time into finishing the software.

So finally got around to trying out the V6 code wowzer has been working on for me. It opens in MP Tune, I could make changes and save and compile to a .bin, and it flashes to the SBEC with no problem. Car starts and runs on it fine, no CEL or other apparent issues. I don't think it's 100% disassembled yet, but the main tables seem to be coming up proper.

Finally got the title transferred and car is now officially tagged! Now I have to re-learn how to use Mp Scan all over again lol. Then hopefully start getting a real tune on this thing. Got a set of pumpers with new Bridgestones to go on it, too.

Cleaned all the windows, topped off fluids, put the Magnecore wires back on, fixed a fuel line that had been chewed on, blew leaves out of the cowl area. Might go rebuild the wiper linkage in a few before driving it to work at Oreilly's today. Need to give it a bath this week too.

Having technically diffuculties uploading a vid, but I refreshed myself on the V6 versions of MP Tune and Scan today, seems to be all working. Dabbled in using a hex editor with some guidance from Shelgame trying to disable the EMR routine so it doesn't shut down every so many miles.

rob, if you point me to what shelgame said as to preventing the EMR routine from running i can simple add it to the code i did for you. btw, i've done quite of bit of work on the 4.0L v6 jeep 781 cal so i'll take a look this week to see how it matches up to the stuff i gave you. hopefully i can flush out a bunch more tables for you.

Still trying to disable the EMR routine, but running great otherwise. Few small leaks I need to track down and fix.

It's some sort of emmissions maintenance reminder. Not sure how it reminds you in stock form, and on stock (obviously) and socketed computers it doesn't interfere with anything. However, on SBEC's with flash modules installed it seems to somehow cause it to shutdown. At least that's what caused it in the TIII SBEC's, trying to locate it in the V6 code and disable it to verify that is the cause of shutdown with it also.

Re: Project LookOwt: Saving a piece of 3.0 history

It's only there to remind you to take the car to the dealer to get the plugs and filter changed, etc. It updates the mileage in the on-processor EEPROM. The problem is, this EEPROM memory overlaps with the flash memory on the module. Normally, this is not a problem as the old UV-Eprom chips can't be overwritten without the proper 21v programming voltage. But, the flash memory writes with only 5v. So, when the EMR routine goes to write the mileage it corrupts the flash.

I'm actually not 100% sure why, as I leave that section of the memory map empty just for that reason (IE, it shouldn't overwrite anything but blank space). But, for some reason - it does corrupt it. The only thing that ever fixed it was dis-abling the EMR routines.

I assumed nobody would care about that little bit of nag-ware...
