Ok, so is this something that would allow us to run a 2-bar or 3-bar cal on the V6? What year controllers will this work with?

Should be, once we have all the tables figured out so all map-related tables can be rescaled properly. Flash module will work in any SMEC or SBEC computer.

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. A 1bar cal is setup differently for calculations involving baro. Because, in a 1 bar system baro will always be higher than Map. But, with boost, obviously thus isn't true. So, some recoding has to be done.

I know you haven't had a lot of time to dive into the V6 stuff, but do you think it might be *almost* a copy/paste affair from a turbo type cal?

It's pretty different from what I know of it. Actually we've found out that the addresses are different even between the different '90 V6 cals. Or at least between the 5-spd and auto cals.

Still hoping that there exists an SMEC, somewhere, with code created in preparation for the never mass-produced chrysler turbo 3.0l. Isn't it possible that the early 3.0l SMECs were coded with a turbocharged version in mind? I.E. a factory turbo 3.0l cal on an SMEC with a 1 bar map sensor/tune.

I have a 88 3.0 SMEC somewhere, if Shelgame wants to try pulling the code of it...

I have several 88 cals. None of them have turbo code in them.

There supposedly maybe 3 prototype turbo 3.0s out there with the development SMEC or SBEC in it. If someone would loan me one, I could copy the cal out of it...

Robert Hassler is the only name I can think of in connection to someone actually owning an 3.0 turbo Chrysler prototype.

Are there any NA 4cyl cals that use the same code as the turbo motors?
Are the 88' 3.0l cals you've looked at drastically different or are they just tweaked differently?
I have an 87' 3.0L SMEC with a "584" cal. Have you looked at that one?

It sure would be awesome if someone had one of those prototype computers. AFAIK the running prototype turbo 3.0ls are/were running on an aftermarket ECU. I think I have some pictures of two cars with the prototype turbo 3.0l somewhere.

Whats going on with the car? have you been able to modify the spark maps?

I haven't done anything yet, really. I messed up my flash cable and had to order a new end for it. Should be here is a few days, then I can start datalogging and helping get MP Scan set up for the V6 cals. And Shelgame is working on making MP Tune versions of the V6 cals.

Re: Project LookOwt: Saving a piece of 3.0 history

There were 5 prototype engines that made it "out" from what I remember. Robert Hassler had 2. A guy in Kentucky had one. I don't honestly remember where the others ended up. Rick Diogo I believe is the person that actually had and sold them all.

None of them came with the calibration.

I had saved all of the pictures and such that were posted all those years ago of the parts, but they are all on a hard drive in a computer that's in storage all the way across the country. LOL Kinda hard for me to get to them.

Unhappy Re: Project LookOwt: Saving a piece of 3.0 history

Chief8one is the other owner. They were all running rising rate regulators to my knowledge and Hassler probably also with an extra injector. He ran upwards of 25psi boost on that small turbo that died before 5000 rpms. He had a cool Volvo knock retard system. He is on facebook. Mine always says him on "people you might know."

Well I got my new ftdi cable today, so now I can get back on helping get MP Scan and Tune working with the 3-Oh.

I'm making some inquiries among friends at Mopar, so far no luck. It was long ago and several have retired at this point..

    30oh, LOL, cool name!!

I bug the 5.oh guys and ask them isn't it a 5 zero, as o is a letter, not a number.

    Thanks

I actually had some ideas for custom tags using the 3-Oh idea! LOL
