I'm thinking about popping for a Spearco 1080 intercooler for my IROC R/T. But it seems pretty small for the price. I just hope it makes up for it's smallish size with efficiency. Opinions?

117* intake temp at 23# of hot --- t2 boost
I like mine...

This is Mark's (show-off) car below. He doesn't like his becuase his intake temps stuck, but his doesn't get any flow:

If you aren't afraid to cut your car up to get air to it, you'll be fine with it I think.
The one I just put in my spirit has the same core dimentions, and is bar plate and same sice in/out let just like 1080. cost was less than half a spearco. hope it holds up. I think its an XO Racing or something like that.
Mine work great. However, Mark's look just like it and is cheaper.

It has a high CFM flow but is not the best efficiency. on my Z at 25-30 psi thru the big hybrid the intake is 145*F.

+1...excellent flow, easy install due to small package, but prone to heat soak due to shortness of the core.
I really like the one I have in my omni.
Mark, would that be XS Power? I just put the XS Power knock-off in my CSX, because my dual stock core cooler was blocking too much airflow to the A/C condenser and radiator.Originally Posted by mark
The core of the XS power I have is slightly different than the Spearco, the tubes are about 1/4-1/2" longer than the spearco, and the core is only 3" thick, instead of 3.5".
+1 to Russ and JT on the flow characteristics of the configuration (picked up 3-4 psi of boost with no other changes), and it doesn't seem to cool anywhere near as well as my old dual stock-core cooler did (I don't have any hard and fast numbers yet, I just got it installed a week ago). But I do know that I used to watch my charge temps drop under boost, but they don't drop with this new cooler. Oh well, I'll just dial in more chemical intercooling (alky) to make up for it.

Hmmm....you guys are validating my thinking. High flow but not the greatest for cooling.
Looks like it's time to shoehorn a Cummins cooler in there instead.
Dont get me wrong, it definitely still works alright

Yeah, it's better than stock and very easy to mount. It will fit in any TD nose that I know of without interference issues.
Treadstone also makes low-cost Spearco knock-offs. You can get them in a variety of core sizes and end tank configurations.
it heat soaks bad as mentioned, but once again, a t2 turbo at 24# is pumping serious hot air, and i was getting 117* in the intake, if it gets enough air, it will be fine. however, if it hadn't come w/ the car, i would,ve done things differently (to save money), hell, you can do water-air for cheap if you can fab, weight the only downside...
