Am considering an '89 CSX VNT

...as most of you know from my other recent thread on their turbos.

Haven't seen it or even pictures yet, (of COURSE, I'll be seeing it in person/checking it BEFORE I buy, that's why I'm starting this thread)

Any specific things I should look out for/check/etc.?

Check for all of the Shelby specific parts, obviously. Fiberrides, seats/doorpanels, 3 spoke steering wheel, dash plaque, gold "CSX" passenger side dash plate, valve cover, floor mats, ground effects, spoiler, "fourth" brake light, grille, sill plates. Hood should be a "flat" hood, not turbo-bulged.

Make sure the Shelby serial number plate is still on the rad support, along with the vehicle specific fender tag, and '89 CSX specific fender tag (will read "Shelby CSX" "Plymouth Hood" "Plymouth Grille"). The Serial number plate should correspond with the dash plaque next to the steering wheel. (Formula is the year of the car, 1989, minus the number on the dash plaque. This should come out to the last four stamped numbers on the serial tag). Checking this will assure that you are looking at what should be a real 89 CSX with correct dash plaque.

Just like most TD's, check for rust. Front e-brake cable area, floors, spare tire well, and the bottoms of the quarter panels behind the rear bumper are the most notorious spots for rust.

This is just quick, off the top of my head. If you have any specific questions I'd be happy to answer them for you. (I've dealt with quite a few of these 89's).

I was wondering if there is a way to get reproduction plates that are on the radiator support made up for a CSX. Not the Shelby one,that one is fine. On my car the other 2 plates that are on the radiator support are badly rusted!

This is the only service for this that I'm aware of. Looking at the website though, it looks like GG won't touch anything newer than 1974. All I can suggest is calling and asking.
