    Tire size woes

Ok so it's a bytch finding tires for the Omni I have. The tires on it are 205/40/16. Yea. Good luck. Tire rack has 2 tires. I don't really wanna spend an arm and a leg on them. My question is if I move up to a 205/50/16 will it raise my car up a ton?

There isn't any fender lining in the fenders. I just don't want it to rub and I don't have a spanner wrench to raise the vehicle on the coil overs. :-(

Ground Control told me that I didn't need a spanner tool to move the nut. Just lift up your car and it should move by hand...if the threads are clean!
Don't take that as a real answer mostly because GC said that their kit fits Koni shock only which is true to a certain point (more on that on another topic later on)

It was one of my reason I didn't go 16".
    Which tires to get!

Fuzion has a 45 series tire. I think 50 is gonna look like poop.

I believe that. I had the passenger side jacked up the other day swapping the axle and you can turn the thing by hand. But it was turning the whole unit. Not the nut. If I'm making sense? If you jack the car up high enough, there isn't any tension on the spring. It just sits there. I guess I can give it another try.

Have you tried different sites for tires. There should be a wider selection considering the fiat 500's with 16's have that size stock.

I have 215/45/16 on 16x7 (+38) with no rub on LRE springs on my SC. Not sure if an Omni would be different.

    So a 205/40/16 = 22.45" ........ a 205/50/16 = 24.07" ...... a 205/50/15 = 23.07" tall.

    Re: Tire size woes

Oh, that actually will be a pretty decent difference. I misread the OP and though that it was a 45 series. Yeah, a 10% difference is going to be noticeable on just about any tire. 5% is often not that noticeable just due to tire construction on small sizes though IMO.

    Re: Tire size woes

205/45/16s are the same diameter as a 205/50/15 and there are a lot of them available.

I just wish there were more 225/40/16s out there... 225/25/16 starts to get a bit tall but I might have to do it.

    Re: Tire size woes

Those 50's actually don't look bad. I'd go 45 though. I had some 205/40-16's when BFG first came out with the size like '95, had to really watch the tire pressure and pot holes with those things.

    Re: Tire size woes

Here is another shot of 205/50/16's on GLHT. 24" tall tire. OEM height for ES turbo Shadow. These are the wheels/tires from my Shadow, so don't bust my chops on being too tall. I just put them on to see if they fit, and to take a couple pics for reference.

    Re: Tire size woes

I would try really hard to stay with the 205/40/16. Trying to decide how much worse all the other sizes will look seems pointless when you can buy more 205/40s. The other sizes will NOT look as good, and judging from your pictures a 205/50, on top of looking bad, wouldnt even fit!

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

I got some 205/40/16 Hankook Ventus HR II tires. 329 mounted and balanced. That's the cheapest tires I've seen so far. So I jumped on them. Anyone use these before?
