    Apex of Shelby Dodge vehicles?

What's the general consensus of the 'apex' of Shelby Dodges?
In other words, which car would be considered the 'best of the best'?
(I know he was the 'Godfather' of the Viper, and THAT is one awesome vehicle, but, from my admittedly, limited understanding, he was having heart problems during much of the design/etc. But if anyone believes THAT'S the best...what would be directly after it)? (How's THAT for trying to avoid controversy)?

(MY favorite, of course, is the Shelby Charger, but I'll NEVER be confused with a 'motor-head')

    (3rd BB on which I've started this thread...monotonous, aren't I)?

I guess it depends on how far out on the branch you're willing to go for "Shelby's influence", but for me it would be the '86 glhs. The main reason is I'm only considering the whittier dodge cars.

They certainly seem to bring some of the biggest money vs. condition of the car. To me it would probably be the 89 CSX VNT. Multiple firsts with that car and the most aggressive looks of any of the Shelby Dodge cars IMO.

Since Shelby did do a couple of Vipers I don't see how that wouldn't really be the one though.

Yup, this will always be the pinnacle of the Shelby Dodge era in my opinion. The only way I would ever sell my pilot car R/T is if I found a way to buy this car. Click image for larger version.

Cool question! As far as the "complete" package (that actually happened) the csx-vnt or the glhs would be my pick. I wonder what whittier versions of the t3's would have been like had they had a longer run (probably like some prototypes)... awd, bigger i/c's, better suspensions, different cals, different interiors...

    Interesting question.

From a production car standpoint, I would say the 86 GLHS and the 89 CSX. The GLHS because it was really ahead of its time and was just outrageous, and the 89 CSX because it was even more ahead of its time with the ground effects, fiberride wheels, and VNT turbo.

From a pilot/prototype car perspective, I would say the "birthday car" CSX because it was 16v, VNT, and had the ----pit adjustable suspension.

Some say If it wasnt for the Omni, Chrysler may not even exist. So my answer is the 86 glhs.

The Daytona 4? 16 valve (hans hermann?) AWD. Yeah, that one would be right up there!

I think the '90 Prototype CSX would have been the pinnacle of the Shelby Dodge Whittier cars if it was produced.

Pinnacle production Shelby Dodge...I gotta go with the '89 CSX VNT. Right behind that, '86 GLHS.

If the mid-engine car that Johnny has posted about would have been made, then that certainly would have been.

The Viper is in a class of its own. There's no denying its awesomeness!

That is correct, this car sat in my backyard for a couple of years. Also had two electronic track seat belts and two 3rd brake lights along with a missing VIN plate.
