    Shifter Bushings

What are people using for aftermarket shifter bushings?

I had a set of bushings laying around that I didn't use on another project so I decided to put them on my SRT-4. It didn't need them but since the stock ones seem to fail eventually I thought I would just go ahead and do it.

The bushings I used, they weren't polyurethane, they were plastic. They're really stiff, a bit too stiff for my taste. I was hoping that they would loosen up some but since they are plastic I'm not seeing that happen. I think they were from FWDPerformance. There is nothing wrong with them, it just feels overly stiff to me.

Are there any other alternatives out there that are solid bushings but not solid plastic? I know Johnny makes polyurethane bushings and that might be an option for me, but I'm wondering what else is out there.

Polyurethane is a form of plastic, no?

No idea. I know when I've gotten control arm bushings in the past from Johnny they have a rubber-ish feel to them. The shifter bushings I installed appeared to be just hard plastic.

I've been thinking about getting your bushings, I would need the set with 4 small bushings.

Are the binding preventing easy movement of the shifter? If so, perhaps you can file out a bit of bushing making the hole just slightly larger.

I don't feel any binding, they just feel unusually stiff. I have the poly bushings in my R/T and they feel good, nothing like this. In neutral, the shifter doesn't even move easily from side to side.

I've always used booger bushings in my neons and put a set in my 5-speed voyager. Are the bushings catching on the shifter's base? When I didn't seat a bushing all the way (or if it managed to work it's way out) it would do that to me.

Isnt there an adjustment on the shifter end. You loosen the bolt and work the shifter just left and right and retighten the bolt. Ed Peters talks about it in a video.

    Re: Shifter Bushings

There is an adjustment but I've adjusted it before and I'm not having trouble getting in and out of gears. I drove the car Friday and the shift feel felt a little better, maybe it is just a matter of getting some miles on them.
