My parent's own a '86 GTS 5-Speed (2.2?) with a dead motor. Next week I get to dig it out of the sand and see if I can't get the rims to a tire shop and get it rolling. It's gonna be my first mopar restore.

Here's my '85 GTS TI automatic. Florida car with a sunroof.
Power everything, most of it still works! It even has the Chatty Cathy feature to remind you to take your keys and turn off the lights.

I don't drive it much since I bought my Lancer, but I can't bring myself to get rid of it yet.

Oh man oh man..... what an awesome trip down memory lane guys. I had an 86 LeBaron GTS. When I was 17. Freaking loved that car. It started my love of turbo charged vehicles. Thank you guys for making this forum. Been looking for good pics of a Lebaron like mine. I had more of a reddish burgundy. I used to freak my buddies out with the turbo. They would think a cop was behind us. Lol. Wish I had a pic of it. I beat the ever living heck out of that thing and it held up pretty good. Ahhhh memories.

I've been trying to track down the owner of an '89 H-body GTS TII car here locally in the Seattle area. It can actually be found on "seattleparkedcars.com". I am pretty sure it was on CL for a little bit. I caught it at a little repair garage and got pictures of it and verified it is in fact a TII car. It has ~320,000 miles on it and looks to be mostly original and unmolested.

I'm trying! Lol. I'm thinking of seeing if it really is possible to pay the DMV to track a VIN down.

Hey Rob. I'm curious if you have a production breakdown for the 1989 GTC convertible. I know there were 906 total, but do you have a breakdown from there - color, luggage rack, etc.?

Hope this works. Here's my '89 GTC. Getting some OEM wheels soon. Thanks Cordes!

I don't actually. That's part of why I started this thread, to see if anyone had numbers on these cars!

I'm beginning to think it doesn't exist, but it's odd that much is known about so many other years but not '89. As a start, it would be great to know how many of the 906 'verts were white.

Yep. Would love to have that breakdown for 1989 GTC Turbo II convertibles! Seems like if it could be known for 1990, it should be able to be known for 1989 as well, but I have not seen those numbers anywhere. Anyone?

Unfortunately, I think we’ll never know the real numbers on anything unless someone has squirreled them away in a basement. By all accounts, the krauts pitched all of that when they took over.

Love the H-bodies.....probably my favorite. I've been thinking of tracking down my brother's old '89 Lebaron GTS. It was a factory TII/A555 car. It's around somewhere and it's changed hands a few times. For now the SL is still going strong and waiting for nice weather.

Anyone know of material for or someone that can restore interior door panels? Mine are a bit tattered looking and Chrysler emblem missing. Car is a '89 convertible. Haven't seen anything on internet.

Re: The Lebaron Turbo GTC, GTS and GT thread

A new question ... I was at Carlisle this weekend, and in the survivor's tent was a black 1989 GTC Turbo II. It should be just like mine except coupe vs. 'vert. If so, why does the valve cover on his say "Shelby" and mine says "Chrysler Turbo." Here are photos of mine and his. I have seen the Shelby one on other cars - like a CSX and Daytona - but I don't think I have seen it on an '89 GTC. Any thoughts?

He (or somebody) put it on the car. Only the Shelby modified models came with it (CSX's, Lancer, some GLHS's) from the factory in CA.

But it was sold in the "Shelby store" and that is how it got on his 89 GTC (probably).

Yep. I really wish I was around when those were cheap.
