    Colorado roll racing

I usually always only go from a dig, but I got called out by a 650 fwhp honda so we did a roll from 45, I ran it up till I topped out in drive and he shoots pass me pretty good, part of the deal of the race is I had to let him anti-lag for 3 seconds before we took off

About 1:30 in the morning, I25 and garden of the gods, heading south, there had to be 40 cars behind us blocking traffic :-)

Been there, done that with the highway roll racing. I quit for the most part simply because people are idiots.

Did you take the race because he called you out, or because you just wanted to see how you stacked up against a 650hp Honda? If it were me, I would have said HELL NO! The Honda weighs less, has more power, and doesn't run out of revs. Oh, and what's up with running out of gear? What transmission, FD, tire size, and redline are you running?

cars are almost exactly the same weight, 2200 ish, 2.5 auto small housing 50 trim with 46 hot side,3.0 fd 225 50 15 drag radials, thing makes no power over 5400, took the race because nobody else would that night, plus all the people from his shop and the tuner were there

    Re: Colorado roll racing

Gearing out with that setup is no surprise, it was probably way past peak power at 120mph in 3rd. Oh well, most races are over by 120 one way or another.

I for one give no shits about highway roll racing. Imo its the safest form of racing that doesnt involve a dragstrip, and even then i have seen more crazy ---- happen at dragstrips than roll races. It's basically the only kind of racing i do (my cars are all 'slow', though). I dont even know how to launch most of my cars worth a crap because it just never comes up. lol

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

Wait, I'm having a little trouble believing you're out of gear at 120.. I am at just about 6500 128 in third and I'm running a 3.77 gear set. Seems fishy.

He ran out of rpms, he said it doesn't pull past 5400 very hard. Neither does my stockish 2.5. I'll race one even if I know I'll lose, just to see how close I can hang.

My car made 304 whp/364 tq with this setup, power falls off a cliff after 5400, it will rev higher but I see no reason to rev it higher, my car is set up for 1/4 mile so if its done at 120 that is perfect, if it runs 115 or so with this small turbo then thats perfect

    Re: Colorado roll racing

My 3.0 mini is spinning about 2700 locked up at 60mph, but that's more like 3000 with no lockup, same gearset/final in the Turbo minis and bigger cars, would make for 6000RPM at 120mph. Lockup, manually locked up of course, because it would drop out with full pedal, might take you over 130.

Though also I think you're really running into a wall of air with a P-body, the aero sucks muchly, the cD is something like .47 (IIRC) so in cD*A terms you might have the same total resistance as a minivan (cD= .42) CS/DC body kits might have improved things a tad.

More than that, at full throttle, it can be as much as 1000-1200 rpm.

Nice, so the same as mine basically, except I have Wiseco pistons and a stock turbo cam, ported exhaust mani and stock turbo. How much boost you running? I've been guessing my whp to be at around the 260 range on 18ish psi and 93 oct.

Didn't know it was that much. I just knew it dropped a decent bit. My built 413 was non lockup.
