    '87 Shelby Charger Barn Find

Well another chapter has begun and now the fun starts. A buddy of mine had heard of these 2 Chargers that had been stored for years and told me about them. So as if I didn't have enough projects going on, we took a ride up to Tennessee and took a look at the cars. The first was an '85 that had been raped along the way, but could still be put back together. The second is my '87 that has been sitting since 1992, yes 1992!! Now they did have the usual rodent visitors over the years and they did some love and who doesn't need another project or five?? There is no rust on either of them, so we settled on a price and we went back the following weekend to pick them up, and so without further ado.....

    The '85

    The '87

    Little bath time

The '87 is a factory non-air car with 80,562 miles on it and hopefully will be ready for SDAC in afew months. Enjoy.

Fayettville, out of your territory They were titled in Alabama and the guy used to buy up all of the turbos he could get his hands on, until his son died...

Hey now. Fayetteville is well within my territory. That's where I picked up my D150.

Wow, I never would have imagined the rear pizza's would come out looking like that after just a wash. Dirt hides allot!

Nice find, some day I'll get my barn car.

Only Corky Coker, Wayne Carini, and you get finds like this. And they have the magic of television behind them.

Holy crap, I forgot I put them up before... We're actually working on the '87 now and figured I would post up some progress pictures...still need to take some new ones. The '85 is going to a good home to and I'll get pics of it when I take the new ones.

Got the head off and the pistons out, looks like it ran lean and killed 2 of the pistons. Everything inside the motor is nice and clean, gonna re-ring it and gonna drive it to SDAC as the "Barn Find" and keep it original. Will get pics. later this week.

I'd say very original, they've got that whole "slung together by a chicken farmer" look right down.

About as original as you can get, everything should be in as found condition when we get up to SDAC in June. I'm cleaning the whole interior and should have the motor compartment detailed within the month.

It runs!!!! Fired it off yesterday and runs really strong, now the fun begins with the interior. Thanks to my buddy and Dodge guru Mike Masters, he put his magic into the motor and saved another car from the recycle bin. Pics will be up soon.
