Ok, I don't think we are on the same page, when it starts missing, does the needle bounce a lot or just a little bit and loose a few inch's of vacuum? If its a small swing then its not a mechanical problem, if its a large bounce and it rapidly oscillates, then its mechanical.

    Look at scenario 5

I was trying to explain best as I could, but it moves exactly like scenario 5 indicates. It doesn't miss steady, usually its a single pop or two. A single pop would make it jump to anywhere from 15-17 inches, where at idle it's 19-20.

That is a very handy link, I'll be saving it.

Ok, so then you have a mechanical problem. The valve seat could be loose, worn guide etc.

I'm thinking lifter as you were saying on the first page. The engine is somewhat loud at idle.

Of course, try that first but most likely its not that.

Re: Misfire at idle and cruise

The only reason why I'm thinking that is that it's not very consistent, it really depends on the day whether or not it's going to act up or not. Today I hadn't experienced any misfire, even when I let it idle for 20 minutes at the junkyard waiting for my wife to show up (voyager needs a door), it's really confusing me.

This is sounding like one I had a few years back, where it went until I got pissed off one afternoon and unplugged, replugged, everything and wriggled everything, inspected everything, cleaned everything, tested everything.... never happened again...
