oil pressure light on after driving 15min

so heres the problem, the 2.5 n/a acclaim i bought will have the oil light come on when stopped in drive, when shifted to neutral it will go out unless it was run longer then it comes on in neutral also, give it some gas and it will disappear this only happens after its been driven for more than 15-20 and motor is warmed up.
i don't think the problem is the idle as it doesn't seem to low (no tach) is it common for the oil pumps to wear out and do this ? i have a real oil pressure gauge i'm trying to install just haven't got the right adapter yet i'm thinking its just a bad sensor

Well if you've only just bought it, there's no telling how long that oil has been in or what it was. Could have been due for a change a year ago and be hella thin, or could have been changed with a modern "default" grade, which is 5W20 these days. So while you might think of it as a "waste" of an oil change if you think you might have to dig into the motor, it would be wise to put fresh 5w30 in it, just to confirm.

Yes, when cold oil pressure is up due to thicker and low when hot oil is thinner.

High mile engine? Some 200k plus mile engines will have low oil pressure like that.

Oil pressure sometimes has more to do with bearing clearances than oil pump wear, but both can contribute

FWIW, the light is supposed to trigger on at like 4psi so thats kind of scary, but at idle that might be enough to be "ok" for now...

What kind of oil is in it, 5w30 is VERY thin when warm.. if its a high miler, 10w40 or 20w50 (depending how cold your winter gets?) would up the oil pressure when warm

miles stopped counting at 250k so its probably the high miles, your diagnosis sounds right on

Put a mechanical oil pressure guage on to see if the switch is maybe off a bit.

It's a possibility then that the PO had a couple of bottle of Lucas crap in it... and the oil pump is worn as suspected. Take a real pressure reading if you can though, one thing about oil sender switches is that they can be +/- 5psi over intended operation point. (Usually between 2 and 7 psi depending on app)
