It will transmit everything from the engine to your dental fillings with zero loss! Heh. I've only tried solid mounts once, and since it wasn't actually a race car I quickly reverted! I think this is the right way to do it for a race car, though. Less movement= less axle problems, and if it's a powerful car you can't 'just' tie into the radiator support, you have to do the k-frame too. So this definitely seems like a... solid approach.

This is Brian Slowe's design, and neither of us really took into consideration NVH for street use. The concerns were limiting engine movement and tying the k Member to the core support for strength. I'm thrilled with it. We've since trimmed down the aluminum plate a bit. Should also eliminate any chance of wheel hop, not that it was really an issue previously. Bushings could probably be incorporated for a car that will see more street duty.

You didn't want to use one of Brian's lightweight k-frames?
As it happens, i have 2nd one here I'm not sure if I'll use.
Oh wait. L-body was different than AA?

I know the auto trans is an issue with the tubular K-frame, at least mine was with whichever one FWDP had. That's how I came across mine. A cross member tied into the front support is awesome and for track use, it will only last for 10 seconds or so.

Yup, Lbody would be narrower than AA. I would have been more than happy to have used one of his K frames, but it wasn't in the budget at the time. If a complete set with control arms became available now, I would have to consider it for a future upgrade.

Something like this would be great for one of my slammed street cars so i could accidentally run it over things without tearing my pans open.. any more..

    The Contraption 2013-14-15-16

This is an AFCO Scirocco style radiator. Brian Slowe made custom mounts for my application, and also moved the inlet to clear my intake manifold. The fan is a Flex-a-Lite made specifically for This type of radiator. We trimmed it a bit to fit tighter to the core to gain just a hair more clearance.

    Re: The Contraption 2013-14-15-16

Finally getting back at after taking a few weeks off for home stuff.

Got the body harness all tested and loomed up. I am still using the OE 40-way connector through the firewall. Mysteriously the captured nut in the dash side of the harness disappeared and we had to improvise by making a rectangular "nut" to fit inside the cavity. All lights and signals work, as well as the starter circuit. With those out of the way, I can put the intake manifold on and finish up the cooling and fuel systems. The throttle cable bracket for the Ford throttle body also needs to be finalized. But I'm making progress again.
