    Thanks all!

It was a nice feeling to actually drive it around the block. But it was only around the block and back into the driveway. Well almost back into the driveway. It stalled backing up onto the driveway apron, and wouldn't idle. There was a lean pocket in the target AFR table, but also it seems as though it was running out of fuel. The used fuel pump hanger I had used is no good, so it does not read the correct level. l. I also suspect that there is something amiss with the pickup, as I do not expect that I burned through 5 gallons of fuel in my garage. I am debating just replacing the hanger assembly with a SPI Unit or going with this.

haha! Realistically, more than enough. But, they do have a FlexFuel version, which they rate up to 800hp gasoline and 550 on E85.

You already have EGO correction on (references target AFR)? Or its your VE table ( numbers you make up until it runs enough to datalog and analyze with megalog viewer) leaning out? EGO correction makes interpreting datalogs to find proper VE values sketchy.

It was in the target AFR table. Not sure why it was there. I am starting with tables that were pre-loaded in my MS3X box as configured by Linfert Performance. For some reason, when I try to load DJ's stuff, it just won't run.

I heard those files are garbage. I tried them too and I could barely shift from 2nd to 1st doing 80mph. Complete junk.

I didn't mean to insinuate that they are junk, only that there is something about my engine that doesn't agree with your tune. I cannot really tell what it is. Still a noob.

Another noob issue, I have been spending a lot of time trying to tune the idle. And I think I am just shooting myself in the foot. I was expecting to get the car to idle with a nice 14.7 A/V or slightly on the rich side of that. What I didn't take into consideration is that at low RPM, the valve overlap in my cams is going to cause a false lean reading on the wideband.

1100 RPM idle FTW. Have you ever heard an F1 car idle at 750? And I can't think of another Omni closer to an F1 car.

Thanks! I think it's going to need a bit more than that. Likely a 1500rpm idle. Oh well. Race car.

    Re: The Contraption 2013-14-15-16

Afr table shouldn't be doing anything until you purposely attempt to use ego correction or autotune. Is your injector opening time correct and offset value? That is key for idle performance.

Injector settings are correct according to the mfr's data sheet. as soon as I get it at a steady idle without having to old my foot on the throttle, I will make sure the offset is correct. Most owners are saying it should be within 0-2 degrees on default.

    Re: The Contraption 2013-14-15-16

Wow, it's been a while since I have updated, so I will bring everybody up to speed. It was a busy summer with family and work stuff. I did have a few saturdays and sundays to work on the car. I rebuilt the front end, with new bushings and tie rod ends. Fixed a cracked bushing in the rack. Got it aligned (thanks Nick Zeglen). I also finally got it street legal, but didn't have as much time as I wanted to get any street tuning done. I did work on the idle so it it loaded on and off the trailer fairly easily. I bought a cheap tow-capable vehicle to lug the car around.

So with The annual ABM Nationals approaching, I decided to commit to making it. At least to put make some test passes. The mission was to run at low boost and get some data, and get an idea of what the tuning was going to be.

I went preloaded with tunes donate by may friends in the community and went pretty conservative.

With the new ability to datalog, and driving what was essentially a new car to me, I kept my eyes on the track, the tach and the wideband for my passes. I had no idea what the boost was until I checked the logs. I had a 10psi spring combo in the gate, but as it turns out, boost creeped up to 23psi. It was more that safely rich for the first pass, and I took a bit more fuel out on each of the subsequent passes. Thanks to Brian Slowe for his tuning advice. Needless to say, I was pretty ecstatic about how it ran the first time out.

I'd like to thank all those that had help in this project. I truly feel this is a team effort, as I could not have gotten this far without very dear friends and members of the Shelby Dodge Community.
