FWIW... 2 cents... Drilled hole in throttle blade was common on cammed 5.0L's to get them to idle. I got mine to idle with idle screw adjustment with no hole. was running "Power" brand (Holly knock-off) until the throttle blade shaft broke, now have a BBK that is nicer

...and who changed the title to 13-14-15-16?

Haha! I'm just moving along. Hope to get it running soon. Everything is taking 2-3 times as I think it does and free time is scarce. I can't imagine where people with families find the time.

For suck through, if ye find ye a crappy little weedwhacker on the curb, smallest gas powered ones, you'll find a ~3/4" carby on one, cute wee thing, plumb that in just behind regular TB, put the WW air filter over it, rig to oldskool choke cable, now you've got extra idle air for cold cold days. ..... and if you really wanted I guess you could plumb washer fluid to it too.

I like 3.0s ... so??? ... stop looking at me like I've got two heads!

This is how I had my Duster setup for years, same TB. Kinda annoying if you have to move the car asap or are on a hill (parking brake awol )

    The Contraption 2013-14-15-16

A long weekend, and got some hours in on the car, but still not as much as I'd hoped.
The longblock is together. Pulled the mockup engine and trans out of the car and began prepping the engine compartment for paint. Nothing fancy, just a consistent shade of black. There are a few more things that need to be welded in there as well.

    What's left after that...
Getting the engine and trans in.
Plumbing the turbo oil feed and returns.
Fuel system (new tank, pump, plumbing and wiring)
    Charging and starting system wiring.
Intercooler water pump wiring and plumbing
Reinstall the dash and underhood body harness
Wire up the gauges and switches.

When I had my Mega Squirt 2l turbo neon, I teed into the brake booster fitting on the intake , ran a one way check valve and ran a half inch synflex line inside to a 1/2 " ball valve and filter. Easy Idle control from inside that makes a difference of about 400 rpms and it's completely variable.

Thanks! The passenger side mount works great. For the center mount, Brian Slowe fabbed up a bar tying the k frame and core support together, and a bracket that bolts to the trans bell housing.

Just to post some small updates. Back on the horse and refreshed after SDAC 25. I've been taking care of some small things here and there. It feels like no progress is being made, but there are 1000 little things that need to be addressed that you don't think of while looking at the project in a larger scope.

I hope to have some big steps completed in the upcoming weeks.

Many of these extra steps are unique to my setup and not specific to the swap. The intercooler tank and pump for example. Fuel pump wiring.

    Ok two things.
First, we're going to modify the bracket so that the timing belt tensioner can be accessed with the bracket bolted to the engine. Might be something to consider with future pieces.
Second, I have two friends interested in brackets. Your site is no longer accessible. How would they contact you?

The more reading I am doing about seems to say that timing and fueling are more critical to a consistent idle.
From what I've heard the stock computers use way more fueling and timing to control idle and the AIS is a last resort. I would certainly try without it first, and then go for it later if it doesn't work out. Much simpler.

That being said, I'm using a Ford Explorer 5.0 throttle body with a Accufab Grand National AIS adapter and a Neon 4 wire AIS plugged in the factory logic module. I've never had any idle problems.

Mine has an idle stop screw and a pretty large hole in the blade. This was a factory NIB Explorer throttle body.

    Re: The Contraption 2013-14-15-16

    Progress!

The engine is in the car. everything went pretty smoothly. Only hiccup we ran into is that the center mount is going to need some modification. It was originally fabbed with an original trans mount in place. I replaced it with a new one from PolyBushings. Now the engine sits level, and the center mount does't quite fit. Shouldn't be a big deal.
