    87 New Yorker Turbo

    Hey Everyone

I'm in the process of buying my dads 87 New Yorker Turbo, automatic T1. The heater does not work, and from my dads searches he said it was needing a digital heater control.

Anyone had any experience with this? This is going to be a secondary car, not a daily driver, but I'd like the heater to work. Any known work arounds? Even if the heat was on all the time, that would be better than no heat.

    Thanks in advance!

The heater on my 87 New Yorker only blows hot when the temp control is set at 85, if I try to drop the temp it begins to blow cold.

Oops, I posted in your other thread about it... But your blend door servo is probably dead or the little plastic gears inside it stripped out.

Mopardad1, your air temperature aspirator sensor is dead. Attempting to find a used one is your best guess I think to fix it as I've never personally torn one apart before.

    The motor does blow.
Dodge Aries K: Do you know of anyone who has one, by chance? I know it's slim, but worth asking.

I personally don't. I did have one from a LeBaron I parted out but I sold it right away. Does the climate control display come on? If you press and hold the BILEV, FLOOR, and DEF buttons all at once once the car is warmed up it should do a self test and you can see what's working and what isn't.

Oh... hmm. Did you check all of your fuses? I have some of the control units (I think like 3) from various cars but I think all the ones I currently have are the 88+ ones with full auto mode. If you can pull the thing out and get a picture of it, I can see if one of mine has the same connector.

I'll see if I'm able to do that tomorrow. The vehicle is about 40 miles away from me, I want to make sure I can fix the heat before purchasing. I do have to drive there tomorrow, so that will work. I'll post it here and send a message to you.
    Thanks!

All right cool. Sounds good. I know where to locate some if it's different for the 86-87 New Yorkers too... as for how much those ones will be, I have no idea. The old man that runs the yard is... odd.

    Re: 87 New Yorker Turbo

    FYI,
    all but the sensor 3849553 can be found on auto temp control cars 86 E, G, H, K and 87 E, G, H, J, K

    the 3849553 fits the following

    87 E, G, H, J, K
    88 C, E, G, J, K
89 Q, AA, AC, AH, AJ, AK, AP, AQ

    hope this helps

I'm okay running mine all the way up (85 degrees) and turning it on and off to maintain livable temps. I just use the NY'er for commuting right now anyway.
