How many 1988 Shadow ES's were made with sunroofs?

I have the chance to buy a 1988 Shadow ES with a factory sunroof to be used as a parts car for my '88 Csx-t, but I don't want to part it out if it's a super low-production car. Does anyone know if alot of these were made? This particular type of sunroof is the kind that is formed into the roof with the internal drain gutters...

It should be fairly rare. They were a somewhat costly option. I know that only 667 of the 89' Daytona Shelbys had a sunroof.

At the same time it would take a die hard P body guy to save a Shadow from being parted just on account of it having a sunroof.

Not all ES models were turbocharged. I've owned many with a TBI engine under the hood.

In 1988, if it was an ES it was a turbo. At some point the 2.5 NA became the base engine on the ES, I think it was either 1990 or 1991. Any 88 ES with a factory sunroof is going to be pretty rare. If the car is rusty I'd say part it, if isn't rusty maybe someone would want it.

then save it. if you're looking for sun roof parts to fix your csx-t wouldn't a factory sunroof car not do you any good because your sunroof was done after the car was built?

No, my sunroof is is awesome condition, I was originally buying the ES for the complete drivetrain because I bought my csx-t with a blown engine. But if this ES is supper rare, I'd hate to strip it

Unless anyone has a bone stock running 1988 T1 setup (engine/trans/non-intercooled turbo/computer), that I can buy, then maybe someone can save the ES. It's complete and original....

I have a factory sunroof in my yellow 89 ES Shadow. The GWB (sunroof option) was about $375 option back in 88-89. IMO, it is rare primarily because it was crazy expensive considering it was a manual sunroof. Just in the last few months I have seen 2 ES shadows with sunroofs in the salvage yard.

Todd, is that the same size glass as the Daytona roofs?

No don't believe so. P-body glass is 34x18". This uses a pop up latch, instead of the twist to open/close like on the L and G bodies. I have seen a pop up latch sunroof on a j-body car at the salvage yard. Might be the same as p-body. I think the P-bodies had a headroom issue so different style sunroof was used. Cavity doesn't appear to be as deep as other style. Little more lower profile.

Thanks. I knew the latch was different, but I thought that you could perhaps swap out the hardware between the two pieces of glass.

When it comes to Mopars, non-sunroof cars are always worth more, because they have have less rust in the floors.

I fixed it for you Mike. Yeah, mine is loaded with rust. Lucky the seats don't fall through the floors.

It was about 34x17.5 to the edges of the glass seals.
