Replacing stock TII radiator fan motor

I'm trying to install a new radiator fan motor on my 87 CSX. I bought a replacement motor from Rock Auto. I have the fan/shroud assembly out and was able to remove the retaining clip on the end of the motor shaft, but the fan blade itself is stuck. I have an '87 FSM and it makes it sound like the blade slides right off after removing the clip.

Any body have some tips for getting this thing off without breakage?

Re: Replacing stock TII radiator fan motor

Looks like I spoke too soon. I finally got the blade off the shaft by prying very carefully on the backside with two large screwdrivers. Probably took 1/2 hour of fighting with it.

After that I drilled out the three rivets that held the original fan motor in with a 1/4" drill bit. The new Siemens replacement motor lined up perfectly and I used a little bit of blue loctite on the new mounting screws. The fan blade slid right on the new motor shaft no problem. Popped the retaining clip back on and had it reinstalled in my car a few minutes later. Works great.
