extended vacuum lines affect performance ?

i was thinking of redoing my vac lines both rubber and plastic since there brittle now, my plan is to use ss hardline to replace the plastic bits and silicone for the rubber my question is if i reroute the lines so they go around the engine instead of over it will the extra length affect the operation of the vnt solenoids and other vacuum operated things ?

AFAIK the only thing really tweaky to that is the MAP sensor, which is more responsive the closer it is to the manifold.

Oh, one thing to try not to do is have a large volume, like a 1" pipe vacuum block, connected by a thin line to the vacuum source, then it will act like a reservoir.

KISS or at least make it function the same or better than stock. Vac blocks and big rubber lines DO NOT. Nylon or Poly is the way to go. You can order rolls of it CHEAP from this place. http://www.automationdirect.com/adc/...bing_-a-_Hoses

Nylon is stock so it'll last 5-10 years if replaced. Poly is like the nylon but bends slightly better and will last a very very long time. I rebuild all my harness' with poly. Flows just a bit better than nylon but doesn't balloon or squash like silicone or rubber does. Fits all the factory connectors, looks stock or modified if you chose to do a different color than black.

Here's both my poly vac harness' for both my cars, top one is computer controlled boost, lower one is for manual boost control.

I don't see any issue doing what you want. Until I see dyno proof, track times etc that anything other than stock is an issue, I don't believe it. The only thing I would do is keep the MAP hose on its own, IE not teed off with anything else.

Motec used to recommend the shortest map line possible, car manufacturers now place such importance on it that they mount the map directly to the intake manifold. The faster your ECU sees a change in engine parameters the faster it can react. The longer your lines the longer it takes for the ECU to react. It could be all over by then.

just the solenoids would have the extended lines, map will have its own direct line. thanks for the input so far guys i'm kinda set on using the stainless hard line since it would last forever and i'm not worried about it looking stock all that much. i'm not decided on where to put them yet, just want to clean up the fuel rail area while preventing future vac problems
