    two head gaskets?

    Hey everyone,
So I just pulled my head off my 2.5L and noticed that there were two head gaskets in place. One copper one and another regular material... Is this normal? When I put a new head gasket in place should I get a copper one or just a regular FelPro one?

Boost geek got your answer, I would just add that the newer felpro are just as good as the Mopars, at least as I have found in my use. I would use both just in case the head had been milled also. Here is a picture of both gaskets, the felpro's now have reinforcement in the problem areas.

The MP and Felpro aren't even on the same planet quality wise. Its better but still like using a pen in a bull fight. If Felpro would quit using Graphite, then it would be a decent gasket.

Its a shim, maybe the head was milled to much or the builder had no clue and panicked when the head was milled.

So are you saying two head gaskets is not a bad thing? When i put on a new FelPro one should I keep the copper one and put it underneath the felpro one?

The copper shim isn't a head gasket, its a spacer. Hard to say, do you have another head to measure so you can see how much is removed, or measure yours and I can measure one of mine. If you do use it, you must coat it with hylomar or copper spray otherwise it will leak.
