    Re: clutch problem

Problem developed shortly after I bought it. I replaced the clutch, then had to go back in. Car still doesn't disengage 100 %. I need to shim it. I want this car ready for Saturday, going to the car show with For Sale sign in it. I've had it with this thing.

    Re: clutch problem

Glad you answered the Q, as we can't help you if you don't. So, have you taken the measurements I asked for yet?

It's sounding more and more like the self adjusting spring loaded machanism in the pedal may be stretched/fubared.

Spring isn't stretched, all teeth are good, not chipping etc. I've removed the pedal many times. I need to add another shim to the pedal, and try again.

Funny thing. Went to the garage, put 1 more shim onto transmission lever, car works again. Need to align shifter, as reverse grinds, and all forward gears are a little notchy, but it works. Thank you all for your help, I really appreciate it.

Reverse grinding and notchy shifts are from clutch not disengaging completely.

Shifts into all forward gears nicely after shifter align, grinds reverse. Never did that before.

It grinds still shifting 2 to reverse. I think shackwrrr is correct. Maybe 1 more shim might totally disengage the clutch.

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner. shackwrrr was right. Added 1 more shim, reverse functions perfectly. I'll run the car to the bank this afternoon and test it. Felt good in the driveway.

Under the arm, before the rubber clutch arm grommet. Pedal feels normal again.

    Re: clutch problem

So cable is too long. Is the rubber grommet that sits on the tranny cable retaining pad still there?
