    SS braided brake line

I'm in the process of upgrading my car (a L-buddy) to 11" brake all around. Since I'm planning to hit the brakes hard, I should consider new lines and while am at it, I should get some braided lines.

Should I order the set for my car plus the extra one for the rear disk upgrade or I should order directly the set for a '90 Daytona (4 wheel disk) ?

    Any experience with something similar?

The L-bodies have a unique rear axle assembly compared to the K-based cars, and therefore different brake hoses between the body and rear axle. On my Charger, I got the standard kit for the car, with the rear disc add-ons listed on FWDP's site. Now I'm fairly sure that the front brakes will use the same hoses even when stepping up to the 11" brakes, but you may want to ask on here or call FWDP to be sure.

    Re: SS braided brake line

Braiding on the flex line would make me nervous long term, on account of making it unpossible to assess the condition of the rubber underneath... theoretically it gives them a little better protection from flying sharp objects, but I've replaced more of them for checking and bulging over the years than external physical damage*. Also would be concerned that braiding would wick away small leaks and foil early detection.

Really you have to consider where they have to reach from-to and the mounting arrangements, if the inboard fittings are staying L-body and the locations on the wheel side haven't moved much, and have the same fitting then you'll want the L-body ones.

(* Okay I had one that chafed through due to the bracket rusting out and it rubbing on something it shouldn't have)

RW22, the brake hoses are Teflon core with the braid over it, no worries about degradation as the Teflon is almost inert and does not age like rubber.

    Re: SS braided brake line

The truth behind the braided stainless brake line is that it is a wear items that need to be checked like anything else on the car.

    The reason I want to use them is mostly for that benefit;
-Under heavy use and when the oil brake reach a certain temperature, the line will not expand like a normal rubber hose would do.

I like rock hard pedal and love to have the same feedback coming from it either hot or cold.

As for the set-up, I am swapping the stock brake to 11" all-around.
I am swapping the stock knuckle from a '90 VNT Daytona and I am using the front strut from a G-body too. I know that the end part will fit for sure but I am not sure about the inboard section. Can't really see them beeing that long...

It is mostly for the back that I which I had that SM for.

The front one are probably using the same block on the caliper. So either one should work and since I am using the G-body strut, for sure the line where it bolts on the strut won't be a problem if I'm getting the 'Tona lines.

I guess I should call Cindy.

    Re: SS braided brake line

There are no brackets provided to bolt it to the strut. I found some aluminum cable clamps in the wiring section at Home Depot that fit well enough to hold the hose firmly without crushing it, wich allowed me to bolt it to the ear on the strut.

FWIW, I've had the car on the road for nearly five years, and have had no issues with the braking system.
