never had any sign of any problem. then one night i went to turn the key, and no clicky. i have full power, starter relay clicks. i need help diagnosing the problem, because usually when i diagnose i break and fix 10 things before i figure out the original problem. and im not lookind foward to that. its a stock '90 spirit 2.5 T1.

    thanks

wiggle the starter wire at the positive battery terminal. you might have to rebundle the harness.

try tapping the end of the starter with someone turning the key, may coax it into turning.....

Try clipping a cable from the NEG battery pole right to the head.

You need a buddy, get a test light and crawl under the car. Check for power at the big terminal first-at the starter of course. If yes, have buddy crank it over and now check for power at the little wire. If yes, your starter is pooched. If no, you need to fix your wiring or check the starter relay and its powers and grounds.

what commonly happens is that the cables connected to the battery become corroded. what you have to do is remove the positive harness from the battery, unscrew the two bolts that hold the clamp together, remove the wires, clean everything up, kind of squish them back together and reclamp them.

ok. someone explain this one. the car stoped starting on the 10th. i tried to fix it the nexy day, nothing. then for the next 2 mornings i tried to start it just to see if it would. then today i decide to try starting it again, and BINGO! it just works. starts perfect every time. i both hate and love when this happens. for one i will never know what the problem was. but ive come to relize that td's do this. i think sometimes they just want a little attention.

    Re: sudden starting problem.

I had an intermitant problem starting in my 90' shadow for a little while. It was the starter. The heat from it running would cause it not to start while it was hot I assume. I got lucky and it started a couple of times over a couple moths, but then it just ate it.
