anti-rattle clips K-H single pin calipers

Where do these go? I got my setup out of the junkyard and there were no clips on them. I got the clips now and I've searched but couldn't find any info. Pics would be awesome. Thanks.

What type? I'm thinking behind the pads. Or there's a type that goes between the pad and the slider... or one that goes all the way across the back of the pad and does both.

It's the single pin and there looks to be 4 to a side...I think. There's a bunch of them in the package I haven't opened it to count them yet.

Sound like the ones that go either end.

This is the most similar pic to what I was thinking, can't find a TM one, this is an LX

If you go to autozone.com and use their repair info thing, they may have a piccie... they used to be easy to link to, but last time I tried they'd changed it, so best if you drill down yourself.

If you've got 8 then each pad section might not be joined like in the above.

yep already been down the autozone road...it tells you to match the side you're working on to the side you're not working on. The clips are all little pieces of wound wire. I'll go out and get th bag and take a pic.

Heh, I love that, like when something basically fell apart on you and you look in a Haynes manual and it says "reassembly is reverse of removal" and you think "What, so I lie it down in the middle of teh road and drive over it at 60mph and it will jump back on???"

---------- Post added at 09:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:00 AM ----------

Hmmm, "any" haynes caravan/aries/dysentry/'tona etc, will have 2 or 3 pics in the brakes section giving you some clues, they ride in a notch on the inside of teh pad end. I'm looking at the pics here, and you would be able to figure them out looking at the book, but because they're a little darkly shaded, I don't think they'll come out well if I try any method of digitising them.

If these come out it's your lucky day... had a bright light shining on the page, but the damn cam drops the white balance...

though lack of close focus might also be a problem... I bet if you have a few beers and stand on your head squinting at them, it will make perfect sense... I can just make it out, but I've seen the pic... the clips is just above the index finger on the last pic.

Yep pictures are pretty out of focus no worries. There are a total of 8 clips. I have a 90' FSM here for a Caravan....one pic with just one of the clips showing no info on installation. Using your pics and the info in the FSM I believe they all go on the pads at the ends and also clip to the adapter.

Re: anti-rattle clips K-H single pin calipers

OK couldn't sleep last night so I ended up figuring this out. In the kit there are 4 clips that are the same..those 4 clips go on the outer pads at each end. There are two clips that are almost square in shape those go on the caliper ear that faces up when installing. The last clip goes on the inboard pad at the top ear. I didn't take pics as I would have to go back in the bedroom and wake the wife up to dig out the camera again and it was 3 am. I did find a couple decent pictures in a 87' FSM I had here.

Yes - those 4 clips that are the same go on the ends of the outboard pad. That's all I can confirm!! Just did a Porterfield pad upgrade last weekend. I ended up only installing 1 clip on each outboard pad and that's it - no rattles! I did use that anti-squeal goop.

ok so i figured it all out... i had the napa hardware kit which came with 2 sets for 1 axle... basicly double of everything to do 2 cars...

the out board pad can use up to 2 clips, the inboard pad also can use 2 clips... you will note on the inboard pad, where there is no clip pictured there is a notch at the bottom rit of the pad backinh plate... note the driection of the clip in the next picture... keep all the clips facing the rotor side...as far as i can guess, these also act as wear indicators....

theres only 1 on the caliper... it goes where the little tang goes under the bracket...
kinda tricky to figure it out but look at the pics and you can see exactly how it goes on...

so after hours of searching, Tonys pictures and this thread, we now have a definitive diagram on how these little clips go....
