I thought it was funny. I'm just concerned where ----- bacon might originate.

As far as power goes.. you can have fun on full circuits with half the power the brz has got. I have. And whats wrong with getting your kicks at solo or trackdays?
Not a fan of drivers parking diagonal in 2 parking spots in the front of a busy parking lot.

And for the record, Drag racing is racing no matter what the format. It's Mano v Mano may the best car win and advance tothe next round. Drag racing defines racing at its core.

But then again I don't know ---- since I've never "really raced" according to you.
By TD, your referring to the original TD's of the 80's and early 90's?

I would like to see a race between a stock 1995 Neon SRT4 and a stock 2013 BRZ. BRZ might win but the 95 SRT4 would hold it's own and it's almost 20 years older.

In reference to my comment about Autocross not being racing....My apologies, I wasn't considering Solo I and Solo II racing, they are more time trial events.

I was thinking of the mano vs mano type racing. Drag racing is the ultimate form of racing. Man v Man and may the best man / car combination win.

Like Pro Solo, Road Racing, Snowmobile Racing and Lawn Mower Racing, Drag Racing has nothing to do with time and everything to do with your opponent in the other lane. Win and move on to the next race. Lose and go home. What's not to like about that?

That's why I was considering Autocross (Solo I and Solo II) a form of motorsport competition and not racing, but that's semantics I guess.

However, The SCCA probably didn't consider autocross a racing event either, that's probably why they started the Pro Solo events.

It's a combination of drag racing and autocross with head to head eliminations until they have a winner.

    Re: BRZ bigshot

Having driven a BRZ quite a bit and plenty of old TD shitboxes I can say they are for two different crowds (obviously). The BRZ is not intended for the market that would even consider a FWD car.

Comparing it to a Dart is stupid. Comparing it to an old TD is stupid.

I will also jump on the horsepower bandwagon though. The car needs about 200whp and it would be killer at the track. Ours put down 156hp to the wheels, and you can feel it (or not actually). But it is still wicked fun to toss around the turns (something my SL will never be good at).

What other cars can you get for 26k (NEW) that will handle like the BRZ/FRS? There are tons of videos online showing the BRZ/FRS working the Miata/GCoupe at a track.

With my sticking up for the BRZ/FRS I can say that I would not personally buy one though. The power issue is just too much for me to overcome. I would love to have a turbo one, but would not do it while it was under warranty. Right now I would rather spend my money on a clean S2000 and throw some boost at it.

Not sure if that had been posted yet, but that is on a stock motor. 439hp from a car that started life at 160hpish... not too shabby.

For 26K I'd have to do a KLZE V6 TT Miata and put 20K in the bank.

Good points all around. That's the BRZ I would pay $50k for!

If we're going to talk used, 26k buys a nice Cayman these days.. drive it around stock while you save up for the kit.

I can't find a good Cayman for $26k. Most of the ones I see are around $35k

We had a discussion similar to this on our local board. Brook has nearly every issue of Car & Driver from the last 30 years so he went looking and found some specs...

    Re: BRZ bigshot

I love the comparing of newer cars to older cars. Like is like comparing a 1990 installed furnace to one installed yesterday. Of course it is going to drive better and feel more solid. When people say things like it handles better than my 20+ years old POS is just plain dumb.
They are not practical cars unless your single. Yes, there are plenty of singles, but mostly the ricer nut swingers are the ones licking the front headlights as we speak. Although, there are plenty out there that don't pay their rent but have 3 cars, so maybe this will be another one for them, too.
It is a good car, but it is not the ultimate driving machine ever built. Honestly, it isn't that good looking.

That $2032 will be worth about 50$ in 2012 bucks.

I don't think the BRZ looks that great either. It looks Ok.
