Possible New Product! Replacement P body window sweeps.

The purpose of this post is to gauge interest in this new product.

I have been working with a vendor on a possible P Body window sweep replacement. For right now this would only be for the early cars. If things work out, we may have replacements for the later style as well.
It's not going to be an exact reproduction, but will be a really nice replacement for dry, cracked parts.
The way it will work is you ship us your belt moulding with the sweeps attached and we will replace the rubber sweep and refinish the trim. (if it's black)
Estimated cost would be around $125 per side.
That's just the belt moulding on the door, not the top part around the door window, not the quarter glass.
If this goes, we'll offer refinishing services for those parts as well.

I should have photos to post here in a few weeks.

What do you mean by early cars?
Also would you sell the sweep by itself and let us refurbish and replace?

Re: Possible New Product! Replacement P body window sweeps.

The early version of the shadow and sundance had a different belt moulding and sweep than the later versions. I don't know the exact year when it changed.
As for selling the part alone, it'll depend on the interest.
    One thing at a time.

1987-1990 uses a 'wider' piece of moulding. The 1991-94 cars use a narrower piece of moulding that must be a different rubber compound because they last far better than the early ones.

I would be interested in a set. I am going to post a picture of my rotted ones later today on the '87 CSX. Would you mind marking up the picture with your comments about which parts get replaced, etc?

    Thanks,
    Frank

It'll replace the sweep only. If the rubber part just below the sweep is in bad shape, it can be refinished.
    We're working on the process.

I don't think that is going to work for me and many others. The attached picture is typical of what people have - rotted rubber along the top and rotted scrapper or missing scrapper because it fell apart/off.

The rubber on the top would have to be filled and refinished. Like repairing a plastic bumper cover.

We are going to offer both a DIY kit along with full service that will include replacing your old rubber sweep, repairing cracked rubber and refinishing the moulding.

Kits are $85 and ship for FREE.

Full Service will be $200 per pair plus shipping.

We'll have this ready to go by the end of November at the latest.

I should have photos after the weekend.
