Deatschwerks install pictures DW200 L body and non L body.

The purpose of this thread is to show what to expect when installing the Deatschwerks DW200 fuel pump in a 80's Turbo Mopar.

$99 gets you the DW200 pump with the filter kit of your choice, you can buy it directly off Deatschwerks' website, avoiding counterfeit parts. Another $15 or so for shipping.

Note: the Deatschwerks website does not have a large selection of install kits like Walbro's vendeor does!!

DW200 flows close and sometimes out flow a Walbro! Deatschwerks also have bigger DW65 and DW300 pumps, I believe DW200 and DW300 have the same physical dimension, while DW65 is smaller.

Externally, the DW200 have the same physical dimension as a Walbro GSS342, ie. height, width, wire connector, inlet for fuel, etc. All the parts that work with GSS342 will work with DW200.

    Left stock replacement BOSCH pump
    Right Walbro GSS340 pump

My 9-0846 filter package came a filter, filter retainer, 3 inch hose (not long enough for any turbo mopar use), two hose clamps (do NOT use them, use proper fuel injection hose clamps instead!!)

I had Walbro parts, so L body install is pretty straight forward for me.

You need the below parts for a L body install.

    1. 9-0846 filter package from Deatschwerks has the correct angled filter you'd want.
    2. Thin foam sleeve from http://www.autoperformanceengineerin...html/kits.html
    3. Zip tie
    4. Fuel injection hose clamps
    5. 6 inches of 30R10 fuel hose (Napa sells them by the feet)
    6. O-ring for the hanger (may or may not need)

Directions (this is not meant to be a step by step, just a general guide line)

    1. Remove old fuel pump from hanger.
    2. Using a Dremel, bore out the plastic ring that surrounds the fuel pump.
    3. Install foam sleeve onto the pump and push it up against the plastic ring with extreme care!
    4. Rotate the pump so when it is installed inside the tank, the filter is facing the bottom of the tank.
    3. Zip tie the foam sleeve, put in the hose, clamps, wire connector, etc.

This is how it should look when you finish installing it.

You need the below parts for a non L body install.

    1. See AJ's post
    2. Thick foam sleeve from http://www.autoperformanceengineerin...html/kits.html
    3. Zip ties (might or might not needed. My stock plastic clamp was gone, I had to use zip tie)

    2. Install foam sleeve onto the pump.
    3. Put the cap into the hanger, o-ring into the pump inlet, and the pump into the hanger.
    4. Zip tie the pump, put in the hose, clamps, wire connector, etc.

This is how it should look when you finish installing it.

(I moved the zip tie ends up so it can't rub against the fuel inside the tank)

Impression of DW200. Quiet!!!! I can't hear it run!

    To sum up
    Pros:

    Super quiet
    3 years no fault warranty!!!

You can buy it directly off their website to avoid buying counterfeit part!

    Cons:
Lack of accessories parts on Deatschwerks' website.

Because some people are gonna take this as a "how to", a point...

Work on a clean surface! any little specks of grit you get in that thing will either start eating it's innards or end up somewhere else in your fuel system.

I say that because the background of the pics implies it was done on a garage floor.

I don't know if I would trust the zip tie sitting in gas, I used safety wire for mine.

Plastic and gasoline came from the same crude oil. Discoloration of the white zip tie to brownish color is the only thing I noticed, the zip tie were still stronger than I am, I had to use a wire cutter to cut them loose.

Yeah if the zip ties are nylon or POM, it wont be an issue. These days most vehicles have nylon fuel lines and quick connects instead of rubber hoses and clamps.

Thanks for the write-up, i just purchased one of these for my SRT4, and will probably do my CSX as well. I'm still on my stock fuel pumps with E85 and figure i'll need to upgrade and these guys are claiming full ethanol compatibility with their pumps.

That's cause you're a sissy. lol Nice write up. Think today I'm dropping the tank on the truck to check my clamps and get the fuel gauge going. May hold out and do one of these pumps though instead.

It's as well to remember the gas cap is plastic, the injectors are plastic, some of the pumps are plastic, and on other models, the tank is plastic and the filler pipe... only plastics you'll really have problems with are polystyrene and such (Never fetch gas in a foam cooler LOL)

Thanks for the info. Once the fake walbros hit the market I got leery of them. I think my NY might even have one in it. Not sure if I like that they are quiet though! How do you troubleshoot your car if you cant hear the pump! hahaha

By squirting fuel into your eyes while un-doing the 5/16 fuel hose at the rail, of course!

Word seems to be filtering through that the unfake ones haven't been too great lately.

I've probably got a fake one in the Rampage. May be my lean issue since I have no leaks. Probably didn't help the day I had to drive it home with a bad alternator regulator @ around 20v.

I wish i would have known about this pump before i bought a Areomotive 340 gph. Oh well it was only $60.00 more and came with the foam but the fuel line and both clamps went the garbage also. I'am very happy with the Areomotive pump i got , it fit nice and didn't need to worry about it being fake.

Not sure if there are any fake DW pumps out there yet. I know I havent seen any pop up yet and Mike at DW hasnt let us know anything yet.

The place I work is one of their bigger vendors (if not the biggest) and we partnered last year with DW for SEMA and had our car down there with DW stickers on it.

The pumps are great, no complaints here. I don't think we have seen one fail yet either. Walbros though... wow. When sitting on the retail side of things and seeing how many problems there are I can certainly say I won't be running one in the SL once the one in there dies.

Re: Deatschwerks install pictures DW200 L body and non L body.

I installed a Deatschwerks DW200 fuel pump and need to clear up a few things for a "smooth" install. First off, the BOSCH Part # 68028 strainer kit is for the Walbro 255 pump that you get from TU or FWD. Don't buy it for the Deatschwerks DW200 fuel pump. Second, turns out the piece you need to use comes with the BOSCH pump only according to Harry. I had to make a plate to make this pump work. Get the 9-0846 filter package from Deatschwerks. This DOES have the correct angled filter.

BOSCH Part # 68028 strainer kit no worky.

The plate I made. It only took me four hours.

You have to open up the hold down for the Walbro, same with the Deatschwerks. I didn't have to since I'm replacing a Walbro but I thought I'd post a pick of it anyways.

How it will sit in the tank. Close enough to the bottom for me.
