    86 GLHS #493 build thread

Ok this is gonna be a lengthy build. Should be done by the end of this year. Car is a good friend of mines and I'm just putting it together for him. 89 common block 8v 2.2 with some mods. Taft cam. Little bigger than s60 turbo. Not sure. And a full 3in exhaust. Trans is a cliff 555 with quaife diff. I'm Replacing all suspension bushings with poly units. Slh1 kit. Here are some pix of it's current state. I will be updating this regularly.

Nice and cozy next to my 86 glht

A torch will burn them out. They smoke like crazy and get smooshie ( industry technical term ) and you can just poke them out .

Ok. Installed the front stainless lines today. Installed a dodge d150 master cylinder. I still haven't done the control arm bushings. Waiting on a buddy of mine to let me borrow his torch for a bit. Working on other stuff.

    Progress lol.
Got some new precision wheel bearing hub assemblies today. 48.00 each. 3 year warranty. 25.00 each to have them pressed in. They look like they are way better quality bearings than ones I've bought in the past. Looking for a quick ratio steering rack is a pain in the ---. Anyone know a part number for the quick ratio steering racks? Manual steering is out the question.

Im off work this entire week. So hopefully I'll get quite a bit done. I'm going back out to his house this weekend sometime to pick up some springs for his konis.

Cleaned the steering rack up. I don't think anything is wrong with it.
Got the control arm bushings changed. I paid someone to do that. 15 bucks a side. Can't beat that. Tomorrow I'm gonna put the rack back in and install the new outer tie rod ends. Then Install the control arms. Gonna try to clean and install the konis too. This should be fun.

Ok more progress. Steering rack had a bad worm shaft seal. Causes power steering fluid to leak inside the car. Fun. So I found a rack in the back of the car he bought from another member a while back. Looks good. Gonna check the seal. It's a quick ratio. Put the konis up front along with the LRE springs. A arms installed with new bushings. New wheel bearings. New mopar caravan calipers up front. Coming along pretty smooth so far. Next up is the rear.

    Stock left. Lre right.

Has anyone ever seen a turbo oil feed like this? I've never come across one like this.

Looks like you need one of those guys? Or something similar depending on the route you go for the lines.

Anyways, I just googled real fast to find the image of it and came across this site with an assortment of choices:

That's a turbonetics unit isn't it? They make a special fitting with a screen in it that goes down in there. I'm sure other places sell something to solve that stupid design problem by now though.
