my $100 89 Lancer Shelby... + a trip to NJ

Here it is, my newest box-o-fun!!! the $100 LS... bought it from another member on here, great guy to deal with, again thanks Devobuzz!!!

soo heres the scoop... the car has been sitting for about a year... gthe rear brakes siezed up so it was parked... the car has seen better days however, it was well maintained with its function!!! lots of new parts over the years, some pretty cool small goodies... the motor trans and turbo have all been gone thru about 30,000 miles ago... every bit that make this car what it is, is complete and in great shape!!!... ok enough with the chit chat for now, on to pics!!!

this was how i got it... it was outside under an evergreen and the evergreen showed no mercey...how ever it was parked on asphalt so the floor wasnt just rotting in grass!!! cool call



took it to the local pay n spray, with some killer household cleaners and got to work!!




and after about an hour of tinkering, i got her up and running!!!

Hey Ralph, yeah completly forgot about the A/C components... oh well not a big deal... i wasnt in much of a thinking mood at that time... i was just on go mode...lol i was exhausted from the drive... shes got a good home here too, and i think , from the signals shes already given me, i think she likes me!!! and shes also been very welcomed into the SDAC-Chicago group too!! please try and make it to SDAC23, you will be pleasently suprised!!!

gonna tear into the brakes today.. gonna swap to rear disc in it... got a line on a whole rear set up for 50 bucks!!!, its a shame tho, cause i pulled off my rear set up off the daytona and sold it like 6 months ago... oh well gotta do what you gotta do...

i told Beth (my GF), since we didnt get to go to the beach, that when i get her (lancer shelby) all fixed up, we'll take a drive back out there, A. so she can see the ocean and B. so the Shelby can visit with you.

thanks paul, ill have her at the next meeting, would have been kick a$$ to suprise you all at the meeting and pull into Papa's with her on the trailer but sadly didnt work out that way... but there will be plenty more meetings!!

Glad everything is going well so far. Ha - that would be great if you come and visit when complete. Did you get a chance to check the whole body out to make sure it is sound?

dug into a few of the hiding areas for rust and was pleasently suprisded... the back floor is fine and see everything rear of the tank is sound... the inner fenders and strut towers are sound as well even behind the towers between the fire wall are clean... deffenitly not enough to scare me away...

i used to HATE white on cars when i detailed cars for a living. because when the sun hits white its bright as hell!!! now all my daily drivers have been white... lol. white looks great on H bodies.

Good - I was worried the leaking windshield would rust out everything. Check inside - drivers side above the where your left foot would would be. I coulda sworn I saw light coming thru to the inner fender well.

after further inspection on the rust issue, it isn't too scary, surprisingly the previous undercoating held up and kept alot of the metal protected... there is some on the floor, but nothing that cant be fixed... i was shocked to see the lower rocker runners are still perfect!! so whatever is behind the GFX on the side is just that, behind the GFX not all rotted underneath ... sooo verdict says!! KEEPER!!!!! i was shocked when my buddy came by and saw the windshield... hes a body and resto guy... said oh thats not tooooo bad... we can fix it...Devo had replaced the windshield not to long ago, soooo im praying it will comeout w/o cracking... but that can never be certain...sooo ill have to find a back up for when i do go and fix the roof line...

The window moldings on the sides of the windshield are very tough to find I have heard. Be careful when you remove the windshield not to damage them.

Pick n pull in Wadsworth IL has a LeBaron GTC N/A car sitting in their yard. The bottom is pretty rusty, but it may have some parts you need.
It's brown with brown interior.
