    Re: Our latest project

It's not done yet. The interior and doors need to be put together.
We've been working on it in between other projects and when we're not trying to keep the rest of the fleet running.
A fresh CB 2.5 is being built and the parts for a 520/555 hybrid trans are here.
Now it's a matter of making some time to get things done.

    Getting the engine together.
89 common block 2.5. Forged pistons .020 over, back cut valves and some mild porting.

    The engine is coming together.
Ditched the balance shafts, added oil pan baffles.

    Re: Our latest project

Oil flows through a small cutout on the bottom of the baffle.
This car won't see any serious track duty, just occasional use.
My main concern is to avoid cavitation.

    Re: Our latest project

The thrash to finish by SDAC 24 is on.
The engine bay is painted and everything is being cleaned, repaired, replaced, etc.
I'm still amazed by how rust free everything is. No rusted bolts, the brake lines came right off without the use of a torch.
Once the 200,000 miles of grime was removed many of the components still looked like new.
Alot of the parts will just need to be cleaned and reinstalled.
I haven't been taking many photos, but I will take more as things go together.

Hopefully you won't mind this question Ajakeski but how would you compare the Lizard Skin products to Dynamat the the like?

Or are we talking two completely different animals?

Thanks for your time and good luck with the car, it's fantastic work you guys do!

    Re: Our latest project

I like lizard skin better. It's easier to apply, covers irregular surfaces better and weighs much less than dynamat.
    Cost is similar.

    Re: Our latest project

    A bit more progress.

Other than being dirty, this is probably the cleanest car I've done yet.
Every nut and bolt came off without a fight. Even the brake lines unscrewed like they new. I didn't have to heat anything.
Most of the hardware just needed to be cleaned and re-installed. Nearly every bolt retains it's original coating.
The control arms are still just zinc plated, no paint.
The cross member would have been too, but it had some cracks that needed repair. RustOleum silver hammer tone paint looks close.

    Re: Our latest project

7 months later, the engine and trans is in. No need to rush...

Everything in the photo is mocked up, there's still a lot of parts that need refinishing, but the big parts are ready.

Engine is a 1989 2.5 with Wiseco pistons, two piece intake, FFV injectors, ported exhaust manifold, underdrive pulley and removed balance shafts.

The transmission is a hybrid 555/520 with an OBX differential and bronze pads.

Ford blue engine enamel out of a spray can. I don't remember the specific name or code.

It was the closest thing on the shelf to the color of the CSX decals.

    Re: Our latest project

Yah in the rattle can engine enamels I've seen I think they call it just that, "Ford Blue" I grabbed a can when it was marked down at walmart a couple of years back.
