    should I buy this?

    http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/3237938104.html

I love these cars and I guess I am a sucker for money pits. this one appears to be in good shape, has the digital dash and 12 button travel computer, but somebody has attempted to "fix it" and the engine is currently in pieces. It seems like an easy fix, but I am still on the fence about it.

If it is cheap enough to buy, fix and sell for a handy profit, then go for it! If not, unless it's your dream car, pass...

The add pictures look a lot better than yours. I would lowball 200 cash and see if they go for it. A lot of times they just want it gone and a couple hundred bucks looks real nice.

Lowball them and throw a new engine in! Where in Ga are you located? I saw that on craigslist the other day, so tempting...

If you get it might as well swap out the entire engine. No sense in putting a head on it only to hear some rod knock.

I don't have a spare engine. after talking to the owner, I am confused what the original problem was and why it was taken apart in the first place, which just re-enforces my belief normal repair shops have no clue how to repair these cars.

    Re: should I buy this?

It looks like a HG situation that never got finished... but that doesn't mean that's what it is...

Figure on what the worst case scenario is cost wise, then decide if it's worth the risk to you. Worst case would seem to be a "new" engine, so whatever you can get one for and install, or so it would seem...
