Did you ever do one of these? Maybe one that duplicates the trunk lid and Lancer wheel and Shelby oil cap logo with the dual rings around it. I would think these would be a good seller since they would fit all applications. Any shift pattern could then be made on vinyl sticker on console like GLHS's.
Another killer product would be CS logos for the factory wheels like the LS but CNC'd instead.

Yes. At the outset I priced these as simple line style engravings. To do the CS logo larger within those parameters doesn't do it justice. Although they looked alright the inserts left me thinking about working up a fully milled version. I started with the rear medallion, and a picture of a CS oilcap. To do it correctly with the "SHELBY" script the smallest I can go is about 1-7/8" in diameter. At that point my smallest tips(.006") will just barely pull off the S,E and the B. The CS itself I can get quite a bit smalller but by means that are more extensive than a simple line engraving.

26 operations with 5 different tools to pull it off.
    The same in brass.

The real problems occur when trying to apply colors outside of a controlled production process with specialized tooling. Still kind of refining that part of it.
    But I've had some success.

I started messing with this after I had made myself some better designed center caps and customized them for my GLH clone, So I applied this scheme to another set.

    Or..

I actually like it like this

And here's a concept I just recently tried out.

I am working on a more deluxe knob insert that uses milling routines similar to the previous shown parts.

    Re: Shift Pattern Inserts

I'd be in for the CS logo on a shift button, no shift pattern needed.
You beat me to it, I was thinking about something like that for my CSX...

    Re: Shift Pattern Inserts

Because there has been a lot of input on a design like that I've worked up some variations that do the logo more justice than a mere outline.

This is the simplest. The straight blue on aluminum doesn't provide much contrast though.

The same program with medallion style border, and two tone.

To really set it off I felt it would help to outline it for more contrast and definition.

It also allows the checkers to be reversed to mimic the Shelby medallions. It's a harder part to pull off though.

This one is a first prototype. Also it's the first flat top insert. It was the only way i could pull off the finish. The top is one smooth continuous surface.

Reaper, I have done some horn inserts previously, but never for anyone online. Just for myself and some locals. Here's what I currently have as my own.

That pentastar would look cool as a center cap.

    Re: Shift Pattern Inserts

I could really use some new horn and trunk medalions for my 89 CSX. Are these possibly in the works as future projects? I'd definitely pick up a few shifter inserts at the same time. Anyone know what the original 89 CSX bits were made of? The oil cap color looks really close. There's so many versions of the shift inserts you've done you need to put up a page showing all the photo's in one place so we can look at them side by side. I can't decided which one I like best! Keep up the good work.

    Re: Shift Pattern Inserts

Before I had disappeared into the wilderness I had been working up a less expensive alternative to my centercap design.

It also allows for a refurbished stock style cap. My pins are longer. I also drill the centers of them and achieve a much better swedge than stock. Being 6061 they are nicer material than stock and will work a lot better if you later decide to polish them since they don't contain all the silicone used for cast parts. No voids either.
