These are pretty hard to find, but they are also the same chip in Chrylser New Yorkers and Lebarons from 84-85 and the 84-86 Dodge 600 ES. Good luck finding what you need, it took me awhile to find a working one for my 84 Laser, I'm still trying to find a NOS chip. I bought one but it was bad out of the package.

Is that what causes the dashed lines on the odometer???
Yes, all dashes means you have a bad chip, a star after the number means it has rolled over 100k.

Can you get a blank chip from digikey or whatever then program it with a eprom programmer? Maybe the code can be cracked.
Maybe I should try this. Local junkyard has a NYer and a lebaron that have digital dashes. I have no way to test them though.

It's already been discussed and figured out on turbododge.com. The only place I've found the chips has them listed for around $90 a piece. They are long since obsolete so even finding the genaric version is pretty hard at this point. What I'm not sure about is if the blank chips need to be programmed at all before they get installed. I would hate to spend $90 then find out it still isn't going to work.

They're on eBay for $25/ea - search for ER-1400...
Can you just put that chip in and it's functional or do you have to do other stuff to it? I might buy one or two as spares for my New Yorker.

Right, it starts at zero, but when it's a brand new chip you can actually put mileage on it so it's accurate before you log any driving time if I remember correctly. My New Yorker has a replacement cluster in it and the odometer is correct, but when you do that it turns on a little asterisk.
I tried one of the ER-1400, and it did not work. I have a feeling that the chip needs to have some sort of file burned to it first before it will work.
