Re: Its official, we are screwed for head gaskets!

I am a believer in the MP gaskets and use them on all of my vehicles but I was impressed with the ROL gasket. It looked almost identical to the MP gasket. I installed these on several cars including a TBI spirit I had and never had a problem. I blew a Felpro in 5K miles. They are terrible. I have a friend that insists on Felpro's even though he must have replaced the HG on his TBI shadow 3 or 4 times already.

You guys are onto my secret... the 5281064 is like the 006 but only has the cross drilled holes on the front side of the cylinders vs the 006 having them on both.

I ran a fel pro at 25psi. Broke a piston before a head gasket. I'm gonna run a fel pro on the hybrid.

Re: Its official, we are screwed for head gaskets!

I am beating on the FelPro'd 2.5 in my Lebaron every day, 22psi spikes on 93 oct, it has seen a lot of knock with me trying to figure out timing and knock thresholds and such. Hasn't failed me yet. Course it could blow today and make me look crazy

Felpro has improved their gasket with the fire ring metal extending into the coolant passages at the rear corners where people had issues in the past.

Re: Its official, we are screwed for head gaskets!

The problem still remains though, its graphite, it doesn't take much abuse for it to push out. Yes they are improved but until they change the rest of it, its still a sub par replacement.

If you have a good tune, you will not have a problem with a Felpro...

I don't have a problem with the Fel Pro on my o-ring block, probably have 9000 miles on it now, in AZ summer too.
