    Porting a 16v neon head?

Anyone have any pics/tips for porting a 16v DOHC neon head? The valve guides are shot in my beater neon and I just picked 40k mile replacement head for it. Since its off the car, I was thinking I should take the time to "port" it, or at the very least clean it up. This is a stock car more or less, just looking for what is considered the basics when it comes to porting these heads. Google hasnt turned much up other then pics of race heads. I will also be cleaning up/porting the intake manifold.

    Thanks

The head flows pretty good stock. Might be a waste of time for a stock build.

I know I'm probably not gonna gain much power but I want to at least clean up the casting. Its horrible! My 85 ghead is WAY nicer of a casting.

What is wrong with the casting? All of them I have seen look really nice. Maybe its a Chinese casting???? Hehe.

My 2.4 head casting looks great. Is it a Chrysler head or Chinese?

I should visit this section more often. This is what I have.....

And here is my last port job. No flow numbers before or after but it seems to work well. I'm hoping to build a flow bench this winter to port a head for real this time.

Here is a valve spring compressor I made. It works like a charm and gives you two hands to do things.

And the bag of aluminum I swept off the floor.

I really like that tool you made. Might have to make one for myself.

It's nice that DOHC heads can be had for 40 bucks all day long at the scrap yard. There is a huge surplus of 2.4 and 2.0 heads.

It is possible I could have done more but without a flow bench I wasn't going to venture there just for the sake of taking out material. I kept the intake opening no bigger than the gasket size so I didn't have to mod that. There really isn't much of a divider in the exhaust port. If you look at the second cut away picture you can see how it separates and then disappears quite quickly. When I ported it I only touched it enough to clean it up. Going off of ET and mph this head has made about 550whp at 28psi of HE351 pressure.
