    murphy switch

Has anyone hear put a Murphy switch on a TIII car to prevent damage from low oil psi/ shaft breakage? I know the timing belt reroute and TI retainers cut the issue to nil, but to be extra safe I am wondering if this would not be an additional step worth taking.

I put a low oil pressure pressure switch with a bright idiot light in my R/T. Nothing that would shut off the ignition though.

I have the pieces to do it, just haven't assembled the car. Certainly couldnt hurt and will most definitely save the motor if the pump fails.

Is this a kill switch or sorts? I haven't heard of this before, but seems like a good idea. Would make sense to do this though.

Pretty much. It will shut the engine down if it loses oil pressure

Make sure it does it gracefully though, not like just cut the pump and the next 3 or 4 bangs are way lean.

If done right and Pat should know how, it cuts the ignition feed to the coil (or similar).

On the diesels if would cut off the power to the solinoid at the pump. It would be easy to have it cut the fuel pump or ignition, however. You Just hold a button in until the engine has oil psi to start. Just a thought.
