Oiling a Mitsu - restrictor? Return line size?

Ok, what size return line can I use on my Mitsu to avoid smoking?

I'm running a -3 full flow supply line (no restrictor).

I used 5/8" hard pipe and bent & welded a funky curve to go from the relocated&clocked turbo to the stock Silicone hose (this is in a Dakota & it points straight at the upper control arm shaft, so it goes in a big curving 50 - thanks to some old 10 speed handlebars - and then turns down and clamps into the stock hose at the block.

The turbo sits about 3" further away from the block so the stock return pipe won't work.

I want to use -AN and I'm thinking 10 is closest to stock

I'm using oil (new motor, plugs are clean) and see a puff of smoke at hot startup, the O2 is fouling after 1000 miles or so. I'd first thought that the turbo needed rebuilt (there was no play when I put it on) and now I want to make sure that it's not my oiling situation causing the problems before I spend $300 + on a rebuild and then have the oil supply & return do the same thing on the new unit.

    Ideas? Suggestions? Cautions?

    Thanks

Post pictures of your return setup?

You really don't want to put an oil restrictor on a journal bearing turbo.

I'll see if I've got one. I didn't want to put one in unless it was supposed to be there -

So, if I'm smoking it's likely the turbo and not too much oil (unless the drain isn't up to par).

The stock return lines are 5/8ths. That's -10. If you're having a problem while using that size I would guess that it's a flow problem due to restrictions in the system e.g. if you're trying to get it flowing up hill at some point before returning downward.
