In something approaching the principle of those dyson bladeless fans, you could build a coanda effect surface back there pumped with exhaust gas and get like 30lb of thrust at WOT

They always feel fast, then the time slip makes you want to cry,This weekend is over 100F down here. Im not going to do balls to the wall turbo racing in 100+F heat index with a half---- intercooler, lol. I wont even stand outside in it... Also i dont think my highly used t1 clutch is actually going to take it but im hoping for the best. Realistically with me about to move, and weather considerations (it really is NOT fun racing in 100f+) it would probably be october. The van's been sitting there waiting for it since like january.Oh this I gotta see! Take it this weekend!!

For basic intercooling.. Just a couple nights ago I intercooled one of my vans with a stock daytona radiator/intercooler.. I just made a stand to hold the bottom of the radiator setup up an inch and a half... using some old washers and scrap tubing and a piece of steel strap...
the held the top in place by modifying some daytona radiator brackets.. The whole think s sitting on the factory rubber mounts and all of the daytona hoses/pluming (and the fan) fit right in..
It overlaps the fan for the condenser.. but my A/C compressor needs replaced at the moment anyway.. Thinking about a push fan instead of a pull.. Or maybe a couple relays or something combined with a shroud or two and just stick with the single daytona fan...
no cooling problems experienced yet in 100 degree plus weather pulling a large trailer...
I just remembered i briefly owned a turbo van with an Evo intercooler in front of the radiator but i dont think i have pictures of it.. ill dig through my giant photobucket and check, though.
Nope, the only pics i have of that van are of it taken apart with the intercooler on the ground next to it. But let me assure you you CAN mount an Evo intercooler in a 1g van. You have to make some mounts for the radiator and move it.

I actually think top mount intercoolers are an under-explored option for these things. But Jay's right.. without a fan, they'll heat soak like crazy whenever you're not moving fast.

Thats the same intercooler i had in mine, but the pipes pointed up the way i had it. I think that style of intercooler is good for a lot of these turbo mopars. Mine is in my Aries now.

Was in the desart a few years ago,had to been over 110deg outside, drove van around and parked her for an hour
Man it was hot,I was able to data-log temps pushing 250 deg at intake, when I started driving temps nose dived down to 100deg and stablized @ 105/110,So I know its very effective IC=I like it,it may end up in my Rampage?

If you going to do a top mount, I wanna see a big A$$ fan mounted to the hood blowing down into the engine compartment. And don't give me crap about how it looks, they are 80's minivans after all!!!

Well if you really dont care how it looks than here is the fan i slapped together with my hack-job top-mount. It's a pretty strong fan.

A 2nd "would-be hood" under the hood could be good.. might have to try it!

Some of you guys crack me up.
A couple of you guys say my web site is outdated because I promote the PowerStroke IC. If you'd actually read what I say there, you'll see that I also bad mouth that unit right there on the web page! I leave those pictures there because, well, that's how I built that van at that time. Would I do it that way again? Certainly not. Do I recommend it to someone who just bought themselves a turbo van? Not at all.
Just letting you guys know I'm not as behind the times as you think.
