    87 duster 3.0 swap

hey everybody thought id show everybody my car its a 1987 plymouth turismo duster it originally had a 2.2 carb na now im putting in a mitsu 3.0 v6 sohc in it becauase something got sucked into the carb ( I believe) and it cause a piston to shatter , or my auto teacher believes oil ring failed, and the piston detonated and shattered either way 2.2 is done for so i managed to get this parts car pretty cheap , next thing you now dusters got the 3.o , there were some complication i had to rebuild the transaxle ( which i did 4 times because i forgot some stuff) move up the radiator, and i had to make a motor mount here are some pics i would love to hear some feedback

Interesting swap, I don't think I've ever seen a 3.0 L body before! Good luck with your project.

    Re: 87 duster 3.0 swap

I kinda skipped over this thread several times, with my brain writing it off as a P-body 3.0 swap, didn't register it's a TURSIMO duster lol, though ya I know, with actual neuron firing and stuff, you remember the sundance duster din't come until somewhat later than '87.

So anyhoo, was wondering if this would be a good swap myself, will be good to see how it goes. Seems to look like more room than I thunk in there so far.

luz, yeah that'd be my worry about a 3.0 in a light car... tire frier... and you haven't really got the wheelwell space to go to a bigger wheel.... 6G73 might be nice in these though...

its the same as the a413, except it has a pentagon carrier with five planets on the front planetary, i believe is called a a453, also it does have to output shaft and differential from the original a413 that was with the 2.2

Same as an A413 automatic and goes with a 3.0 is usually an A670... never heard of that one. The 5 speed for 3.0s is the A543.

    There is a 604 and a 670, I think the 604 is the 4-spd OD and the 670 is the 3-spd.
