I've never seen a carburator run more than 8psi because any more fuel pressure would push the float into the bowl and unseat the seat and overflow the carb.

    tbi cars are 36psi

Re: What is stock fuel pressure for a 1992 2.5 Carb car?

WAY less than 6 for the stock carbed 2.2/2.5 family. My old carb started needing more and more psi to make it down the track. When I put on a new Weber 32/36 I have no problems running under 3 psi!

The stock set up on those cars are TERRIBLE....running the fuel lines along side the HOT valve covers cause all sorts of troubles. The big fuel filter that was put in place of the normal sized one on a recal along with an intank pump was junk too....did NOT flow well enough for even a stock powered 2.2 HO to make it down the track without sucking the carb dry...even when the fuel regulator was removed! Thankfully the stock electric died soon and I had it pulled out and replaced with a Holley electric red pump next to the tank. That pump lasted from 1985 until 2010 when it still worked, but leaked gas like a sprinkler! That happens once the internals wear out, even though the car still ran flat out all the way down the t
Another problem is bits of charcoal get into the carb from the charcoal cannister. This can happen any time the car is filled to the top and then more gas is pumped in. The gas goes down the vapor line into the cannister and starts breaking it up. The quickest fix is to bypass the cannister with a fuel filter in place of it.

Ended up with a 60 PSI pump, external.
    Worked GREAT!
