Diagnosing having no odometer, trip, or speedometer?

Hi. I have an 89 Daytona turbo, and do not have an odometer, trip meter, or speedometer.
I think the speedometer speedometer makes a signal 8 times per revolution, correct? I checked the gear and it is engaging, and the gear is fine.
I'm curious how I could test the speedo head itself?

I don't seem to be throwing a code for the VSS, could the sensor still be bad?

    Thanks!

I'm thinking it's at the cluster if you aren't getting anything. The odometer is usually a mechanical problem, but most often the speedometer is electrical. Perhaps you aren't getting any signal at the cluster?

Looks like I'll be working on it tomorrow. I'll post findings!
    Thanks.
