    87 GLHS 209 rebuild

I recently purchased this car out of St. Peters, MO. It has 28.8k original miles on it. It was flipped onto its top back in 2003 and has been sitting around in dry storage ever since. The car was auto crossed and has quite a few goodies on it.
Here is what I have identified on it so far:

    aftermarket rear sway bar
    coilover setup on factory koni's
some form of boost controller under the hood
    Mopar performance boost gauge
    trans diff housing girdle
    limited slip differential (unknown make)
Some form of airscoop that bolts onto the lower K-member and funnels air up to the turbo
    front strut tower bar
    LRE shifter linkage upgrade

The car came with quite a few spare parts:
complete front clip including air dam and extensions
    front bumper with pistons
    spare 2 piece intake
NOS set of Decals (only missing the intercooler decals)
    Full set of FSM's
Full set of shocks and struts from a SC that had 1k on them
NOS strut top hats, distributor cap, and rear shock caps/covers
Original drivers seat with around 10k of seat time on it (had a racing seat with 5 pt harness in it when I got it)
    set of axles
complete set of front and rear suspension along with another rack and front swaybar
full set of seat belts in very nice shape
    2nd spare passengers side fender
Theres quite a bit of small stuff but you get the point

All of the Shelby items are there and in great shape except the Mobil 1 plaque. Supposedly the seller has it and is going to send it to me.
Oh, and the car has a clear title! This means NON SALVAGED!!!!!!!!!
Here are pics of the car circa 2003 after it was wrecked:

Here are the pics of the car as it sat as of about 3 weeks ago before I got it:

Since I have gotten the car back I have swapped in the origional drivers seat, torn out the complete front and rear suspension, and pulled the front clip off.
Here is the rear axle. It came with another rear axle out of a shelby charger but I decided to go with one out of an omni so I didn't have to cut off the factors "rear swaybar."
Here is the damage to the drivers rear:

here is the damage to the front K member:

Here is the new rear axle after having it blasted then painting/coating it:

Sweet!!! At this rate LinOma will have a fleet of sweet 87 S-cars real soon. I can't wait to see it finished.

Yeah, how did we end up with so many? Well, everyone else already had one, I just jumped back on the bandwagon

I remember seeing it for sale earlier this year. It's good to see it's being repaired.

Steve, yes you had yours first. Somedays I wish I had a #'d car, to fit in. Other days I'm glad I don't.

Between the heat and trying to catch up on things around the house, progress on mine has pretty much ground to a halt.

Yours is faster though. And you're not afraid to beat on it!

    More progress!:

What a difference a new header panel will make

Turned out pretty nice for being ripped loose from the car

    From this:

    to this

Thought that I would take a few pics of the hatch area since I had it on the ground

The spare and jack still have the original stickers on them

And Here is the air scoop that mounts on the K-member. It has a part number on it, I am guessing that maybe it is something that could be ordered out of the direct connection catalog?

    Re: 87 GLHS 209 rebuild

The deflector is a regular factory-issue piece. The Wagon had one, Paul's Charger had one, my GLHS had one, Steve's car has one IIRC. It was used to deflect air to the turbo to help cool things down a bit.

Seeing those pics makes me realize I'm slackin'. that is great progress! Keep it up.

Haha! I thought that could be a possibility also. In all the L-bodies I have ever owned, this is the first one I have ever seen.

It comes stock on all the cars. Everyone just leaves it off. I'll be reinstalling the one on my blue NA GLH today.

    Re: 87 GLHS 209 rebuild

Well, the car is back down on the ground, the brakes are finished, I got it running, drove it for the first time a few weeks back (runs good!), I sent the drivers front koni in for rebuilding last week, and the car has an appointment with the frame shop next tuesday! I am getting ready to jamb the front fenders and hood.

It was tweaked decently. I trust the guy doing the work, Ive taken stuff to him before and he's really good.
