    A/C system; mystery hose

    Hello all-

Rehabbing the A/C system on the wife's GLHS and would like to replace all of the hoses.

The discharge hose appears to be readily available from all of the major parts stores, but the one that attaches to the expansion valve at the firewall (as below) is not. Anyone else running into this? Is there a hose from another/newer model Mopar that can be subbed in? The hose in question also has that capillary switch attached to it.

That would have to be a last resort, unfortunately, as most of the radiator shops in this area don't deal with a/c hoses.

I'm looking for some sort of bolt-in replacement--shirley someone else has run into this issue.

What does shirley have to do with anything?

Bummer, pretty well every rad shop around my neck of the woods rebuilds hoses.

You can search Ebay or Yahoo! for "Omni A/C hose" or "Omni air conditioning hose" and get good results. You're looking for the suction hose.

4 seasons aftermarket hoses are available for l-bodies. #555-26 should be what you are looking for. You can try Googling that #. They occasionally are pretty cheap. I didn't pay over $35 for any aftermarket AC hoses I've ever bought for our vehicles. I recenty found a guy on ebay from Florida that was selling new 4 season hoses for $20 each! I bought 3 hoses, 2 dryers, and 2 seal kits for $95 with shipping! Tough to beat that price. Nothing wrong with rebuiling your old hoses. I actually think they are better quality than the aluminum aftermarket hoses.

I was able to get NOS hoses for my GLHS, though I wouldn't be opposed to using the aftermarket ones Todd mentioned.

NOS hoses were not available for my R/T, so I had those rebuilt. They work fine.

Aluminum tube aftermarket hoses wont rust like the oe steel. Thats enough of a reason I'll never go back to them.

Beadblast, epoxy primer, and top coat and they never will either.

You cant paint the flange surfaces and that is where I have always had issues with the oem hoses failing to reseal because the surface gets pitted @ the receiver/drier.
